Nerfing the shields does make farming windstorms slightly harder, but it is still by far the easiest way to get enchants in the entire game and in fact, the most efficient way to do so is at the very beginning of the game, on the first continent, tier 1 with no wind shelters because enemies have a lot less health on continent 1 (enemies get 30% more health with each continent up to 5).

This is backwards. As it is right now, at the beginning of the game you instantly get access to the most plentiful and easiest to gain loot, and then as you play and place wind shelters, kill lieutenants and progress to other continents, that same loot only gets harder to get and comes in much much smaller quantities.

Loot should increase with progression and difficulty, not start at the maximum and then decrease. You don't give everything to the player instantly, you make him work for it.

Not to be snotty or rude, but it's an EXPLOIT.   For now, just dont do it, and wait until the devs have a chance to alter the balance a bit.   They've definitely proven they know what they're doing, so I'm sure they'll get to it probably sooner rather than later.

I dont use exploits/glitches myself, and my "loot progression" has been very, very even throughout the entire game.

Seriously though, just dont do it, and it wont unbalance your game.   Otherwise it's like someone playing Doom (the old ones) and complaining that the whole game is way too easy because they've got God Mode turned on.

I personally am going to stick by the idea that shards should not be collectible whatsoever within storms.   As I said before, should be incentive to stay AWAY from them.... not to stay in them.   But again, I'm sure it'll get fixed.

i have an idea...

what if everything, and i do mean 'everything' was randomized?

i get a character. (instead of picking one of six now, i have only the choice of gender)
i get a random difficulty. (sometimes this is going to kill me, other times it won't)
i get monsters drops. (sometimes... but not always and different tiers of items as well)
each continent is a random turkeyshoot, meaning the second tier could possibly be 10 levels higher than the first.
the number of npc's and windshelters and or drops or enchants and everything else is on a random scale, so sometimes i paint myself into a corner, or am painted into a corner by the game and i lose, or i go on.

everything is unlocked from the beginning, meaning no unlocks, if i need a tier 7 fire spell to over come the dragon overlord on this continent, then i better have found one already, or go farming until i do, or try something else, like introduce luck into the equation, by having me at tier 2 go up against a tier 7 monster, and sometimes, god forbid always, certainly not always, but certainly sometimes, i win.  :)

what all of this means is that each game, each continent is always a crap shoot, every time, whether any new content is made or is never made is beside the point, what we will face as we go on is always different, and sometimes luck and skill is in our favor, and sometimes i get killed in the first five minutes, or after five hours.

but then i start a new character, or a new world, and we are back to facing an unknown future again.

now if it was me, or if this was moddable i would do this just to see what it is like, but maybe having everything be random is scary to some people, so make it toggleable, or tweak the randomness to the point that not everything is so.... topped out after so many continents, or tiers, no matter how much content is in the game.

the randomness of everything would do that, it would make it all up in the air, no matter my tier, or the tier of the world or what was new content or not.

i would even make the monsters levels random inside any continent random too.  :)

what if i go outside my village and find a level 25 monster that insta-kills me!   :)  Or i find when i'm level 16, a gang of level 8 monsters that are easy to kill, and take their stuff.  (and no loot nerfs either!)

it may not be very organized, but i think it would be fantastic!!  :)

just my opinion, and if the devs ever like make Valley a moddable game, i'm gonna try it.  :)  (just give me some lines to change to do it.)  :)

p.s.   i may get crazy ideas,   :)   But at least i'm not shooting the game down!  i'm trying to be constructive.  :)

As for moddability, many parts of the game can be changed, (room maps added, art textures changed, etc.)

As for everything being completely random, the biggest problem with that is that the game would be impossible to balance. It would either be way too easy, or way too hard, and neither of those is fun.
