Savegame handling
« on: October 27, 2009, 07:42:15 am »
Hi

just an idea for a small tweak:

- when chosing 'save game', immediately focus on the input field for the name (no text selected, cursor at the end)
- pressing enter in the textbox leads to saving

and here an idea a little bit more complex (but still more or less easy to implement):
I tend to make savegames with 'descriptive name {0}' where {0} is a number I cycle through a small range, maybe 1 to 5 or so. That way I can always go back a few steps if I need to.
well, the suggestion is simply: auto-increment the number of the last savegame by one. it doesn't even have to cycle by itself, if we want a new round we simply change the number to 1 again and the next time it gets autoincremented to 2.
that way, we'd usually only have to hit esc, save game, enter, and not fiddling to reach the textbox, activate it, change the number manually, then click save.

and as for the cherry on top:
a quicksave button (F5 or F9 would be nice since thats often used in other games) which cycles through 'quicksave 1' to 'quicksave 10'.
