So how do you prefer to use beam frigates?
« on: January 22, 2010, 12:40:21 pm »
So far, I've toyed around with having them stationed close to a station or factory as a guard unit, or just part of the blob that is my domination force. How do other forum goers use them? Or perhaps you don't use them at all?

They are pretty good blobbed with starships and lower range units to protect them (fighters, bombers), and with FF bearers they will be very hard to stop. Just don't forget to bring something against forcefields though, because they are very bad against those.

Spamspamspam.

Oh, and note that their weapon negates shields, so they are great against units such as tanks.
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

They're excellent in a stack with starships, especially since flagships and zenith starships have the same 18 speed.  If human colony rebellions are on, you can stack them with rebel fighter/bombers and frigates for a single group that can pretty much wipe out entire planets by itself.

I would recommend sending them out to attack, since they have high range, good speed, lots of HP, and a bonus against turrets.  They don't really have the speed or firepower to be that great on defense - you can't shuttle them around fast enough to meet raids, and they don't zap quickly enough to stop a raid dead before it gets your command station.

Acualy I find them great for defense. Stationed right outside a worm where the enemy warps in, When they are in that huge warp in blob. When the enemy is compact like that and you get allot of cross over damage, they kill or at least weaken allot of ships for others to kill. Exspecialy when they are boosted 5x. In my current game they have killed 28,000 and only lost 700. And I only lost so many becouse I did a few sucide runs.
