So, I went to attack one of the AI homeworlds, and this is what spawned.

Oh wow, playing for 106 hours... yea, I hope you had the rest of the galaxy covered in spire cities so you could meet that with an appropriate number of DNs... 96 Armored Golems! 10 Motherships! Boom!

I ended up just going for the alt victory condition. This did indeed kill me, but I kinda knew it would be big, so I saved before I triggered it. It was more a matter of wanting to see just how much the AI would spawn at once.

I think if that happened to me, I'd just be all ;_; and exit game. Is it even possible to defeat that?
I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.

Yes, the way he did -- through the alternate victory condition.  His firepower was actually substantially greater than that, just not what he could control manually.  I won't say more for risk of spoilers. ;)

Forget about it being impossible to beat, is it even possible to trigger that size of an attack wave?

It'd be understandable if you started with multiple planets, though.

I started with two home planets on and X type map (120). I had the central planet bottleneck hard, so I could fight off exo galactic spawns relatively consistently. I was playing 7.6/7.6 tag teamers, with Hard Golems, Hard Spirecraft, Fallen Spire, and Zenith Traders. There weren't many progress reducers in the map (no super terminal), so progress was getting kinda out of hand.

I play on 10+ speed the whole time, so that's why it was a high game time.

I see. I still haven't played with the spire-I really need to get around to buying that expansion, it looks great.

oh man, i couldnt play WITHOUT the spire storyline, makes the game so much more interesting.

@ OP thats about the same settings as my game, only I'm up against 2 vanilla 9's, I'm cringing right now just thinking about hitting that point, lol.
