Author Topic: Editor/objective issue that I'm not sure is a bug or a feature or what  (Read 2808 times)

So I'm throwing together some adventure level ideas (rather than puzzles), and I have this one I want to make but the objectives don't seem to give me the tools I need, even though I feel like it should.  I want to create a level that requires you to take care of X number of charred blocks, while clearing only X total blocks, but charred blocks and flame blocks don't drop, you can only place flame blocks as items.  The problem is, "clearing X charred blocks" doesn't work like I want it to.  If I do a chain next to them and they become un-charred, it doesn't count them.  I also tried a Can o' Beans, no dice. I  suspect something like an eater or that would do it, but that's not the level I'm trying to make.  Is there any way to make it count the number of blocks you have un-charred, and if there isn't, can there be?

I think that is specifically broken at the moment, Keith knows more about it and will have to get back to you after lunch; he and Lars have been talking about that one, and I'm really not sure what the story is with it at the moment.

The one that is specifically broken is clearing a block by uncharring, since that doesn't actually make sense but I had to have a clearing method for it since uncharring does actually result in a block being removed from the board (and then replaced by another block).

There never has been an objective for uncharring X blocks, but I can add one fairly quickly when I'm through with some more pressing stuff.

Note however that this new objective would not be the same thing as clearing a charred block, but rather transforming one.  I believe you can actually clear one via an eater, though I'm not totally sure, but uncharring is not actually clearing.

It's kinda tricky ;)  Having objectives based on the really specific mechanics of that particular special block type wasn't really one of my goals, though hopefully adding that one objective type will help.

I mean, as far as I'm concerned "uncharring" is basically the same as "clearing," though I know that's not quite the mechanic.  I'd also kind of like to see a clear-count for locked blocks, which I couldn't find and seems more straightforward.
