My second puzzle
« on: April 17, 2010, 08:11:48 am »
I'm really enjoying making these!  Takes some time to make sure it can be done - making puzzles difficult is difficult!

I tried to make this one different by making it punish you if you do things in an incorrect order.  As you can see, there is a massive gap in the bottom left that I will fill eventually, just want to get feedback on how it is so far, and if it is a good style of game.

Enjoy!

Edit: Including my even more up to date version.  I have slightly changed a few things to make previously useless blocks more necessary.  If any of you try this let me know what you think!

How many moves did you intend for what's there so far? I've solved it, but it took me a lot of moves. It certainly does punish you if you do something incorrectly. :P I'd like to see where you're going with it. I'm not sure what I think about the greens on the top left, though, since those are pretty trivial and don't add anything to the puzzle, in my opinion.

I think I did it in 9 moves.  I assume there is only one way to do it - the greens are simply there for somebody who is unaware and focusing too much on the right-hand side - perhaps you see why they can fail it?

Yeah, I do see why, but I worry it will lead to people setting up elaborate solutions and getting irritated that it failed because they forgot to clear the green blocks first. :P

6 moves is what I managed. I'm not sure it can be done in less, but I'd definitely be interested in whether anyone can figure out a way to!

SIX MOVES!?  I managed seven, not quite sure how I can make it less - you're better than me at my own puzzle!!  But yeah, I may get rid of the greens, or try and involve them somehow.

Edit: I have now included my more up to date version.  I have removed the green section.  I feel it is harder now (I may change the mass of yellows in the bottom left if they don't add much).  I hope it is harder!  I did it in 11 moves.

Yeah, that is a lot harder. I'll fiddle with it more later; I should try to get more work done now. ;) Should be a fun diversion during a break!
