Question About How DPS is Calculated...
« on: April 18, 2014, 09:19:39 pm »
Just started playing this game and I love it so far.  However, quick question.  Does the DPS calculation for the spreadshot assume that every shot hits?

Currently I am looking at firing at a flagship with it's shield down, and the DPS is telling me that my spreadshot is a better weapon to use than my mass driver, which seems weird to me.

Pretty sure it does mean if every shot hits.  The spreadshot is very often waaaaaaayyyyyy ahead of the other weapons in terms of DPS listed, which really doesnt make a lick of sense unless you're at point-blank range and smashing them with the entire thing all at once.

I can see how it'd be a bit confusing, definitely, but heck if I could think up a better way to do it.

It wouldn't be perfect, but it would be far less incorrect if it simply calculated how many shots would hit them at their current/projected position.
Furthermore, it is my opinion that Hari must be destroyed.

Or even just calculating the dps for a certain percentage of the shots hitting would be better.  It's definitely gonna be confusing to new players if the game is always telling them to use their spreadshot, even when it's a terrible choice (Burlust warlord duel; game said spreadshot was the way to go... yeah, no).
