Prisoners --- Only Fate is Slave?
« on: April 22, 2014, 04:48:27 am »
One Question did anyone find out if it is possible to exchange the prisoners back to their homeworld for some positive influence instead of selling them as slaves. I think this would benefit me in certain circumstances.
If u know reply :))

Thx and have a nice day

Yes, you have to go the the "government" subscreens, there usually are options there to release the slaves in exchange other stuff.

It changes depending on the race though.

I found with one race at least (I think auction), they had to like you before they would accept any pilots back. I found that a bit odd. It should be a way to build back goodwill.

Some races will give you money in exchange for their pilots, and others will give you influence. You can choose either one with the Skylaxians.

And yeah, if your influence with a race is less than 0 they won't accept their pilots back, not even for free. It's really annoying.

And selling them as slaves pisses off EVERYONE, except the Peltians who go "Don't hurt us!  We're just cute little owlthings!" then roll over and play dead.

It makes sense though. I'd be wary of someone I don't like giving me back my pilots with fancy diseases...

That's what quarantines are for.

The weirdest thing is that 0 influence isn't even that low, a relationship is still considered Neutral down to about -20 or so. I imagine the conversation going like this:

Hydral: Here are a couple pilots I fished out of space after blowing up one of your spy satellites. My bad, I didn't think those things were manned.
Andor: Nope, we mildly dislike you. No deal.
Hydral: I'm not asking for anything, just take them.
Andor: NOPE.
Hydral: Okay, well, the slavers are always buying...
Andor: If you do that we'll hate you forever.
Hydral: Um, so I guess I'll just let them rot in my hold for the rest of their lives?
Andor: That is acceptable.
Hydral: Jeez, it would have been more merciful to just let them suffocate in space. I guess I won't rescue your pilots any more.
Andor: That is also acceptable.

I've seen a case where a race would accept pilots back even with somewhat negative relations. I forgot who, though. Probably should have made a note of it. Maybe Acutians? The odd thing was that all of the 'talk to the leaders' options were red, but when I clicked on the local options link, the link to give back pilots was white, and worked.

Seems like it really should work that way anyway, if someone wants to throw it on mantis. I'm phone posting, or I would.
