Weapon damages still erractic

I still find weapons as a whole all over the place.

I've only playing standard start (acutiann flagship), but for example:

The energy weapon is long ranged and good against shields. Cool!

But against hull against thoroxian ships (specifically specific thing on your foot brand N I K E* ships, something like that) the energy weapon is still best. Not nearly as good as against shields, but still better then ballistic weapons or gravity weapons. So...pretty immersion breaking.

Sorry I'm typing in fragments, my time is so short lately in actually playing games. I guess I'm saying against capital ships the anti shield weapon is king but only by virtue of the other weapons (at least for the acutian flagship) being terrible. Either the standard flagship's kit is bad, or just that weapon balance is still not fully right.

*I feel like I have editted this 4 times now. Ha!

Weapon balance has been like that for awhile now... not something that really got addressed during the expansion's development period.

I've always used exactly two weapons for everything:  Minigun for popping most things, and energy blaster for flagship shields as well as turrets.  Everything else?  Inferior, and makes fights take longer.

Other weapons just dont really stand out much, particularly on high difficulties, where you need things to be exploded *immediately*, because the damage they're throwing out is really extreme.  And the best damage from the player seems to always be from those two things.

I tend to stick with the Minigun and the Energy Blaster.  Once I get the Mass Driver, it's great against most capships and structures.

Is there a weapon called the thermal lance, I heard somebody say it is overpowered. And yeah I only ever use the minigun and energy blaster and sometimes gravity lance against thoraxians

For me, the energy blaster kills most things at long range. Those which cannot will be killed by the mini gun.

For me, the "gravity" line of weapons, starting with the lance, need an upgrade. Either the "lance" needs 2 beams or more firepower or the base "lance" needs more damage, because right now it has the range of a shotgun with the power of a BB gun. It barely overpowers the previous "go-to" weapons of blaster or minigun when they have a resistance, but lacks any range.

One suggestion:

The "lance" turns into a "laser". It can strike two separate targets per burst.  Thus the weapon accomplishes its goal of striking multiple targets without the edge cases of abuse.
