I'm going to copy paste from mantis the best thing on the changelist so far:

* Previously, when an attack was declared by one race against another, there was no indication of why. There are actually 8 internal reasons why a race might attack another, and now the icon of the attack notification shows which reason it was, and the description on that icon explains further what the cause was.

Woo! Now I can learn why the races are attacking for seemingly no reason. Great work.

You bet. :)  Just in observer mode, it's striking to me how much clearer it is even to ME what is going on and why.  I mean, by looking at the underlying data in the subscreens, I could figure it out before whereas you likely would generally not (not having that info available).  But that takes time and was always a "meh, why spend that time" sort of thing when actually playing and watching.  Now it's just such a clear thing, I'm quite excited.

This is a significant step toward demystifying TLF.  :)  Very much looking forward to seeing it work in practice.

If people have other things like that, I'm always open to them.  Ideally I'd rather have things pop up "in character" like this, rather than being things where I just give you more and more raw spreadsheets of numbers.  The latter is time consuming to parse through, not that interesting, and still often won't really answer your question.

Dear x4000,

Hello. I am a Japanese gamer. TLF is a very splendid game. I introduced it to a Japanese friend.
http://www.twitch.tv/folillust/c/4126543
Because I want many Japanese to know it, I am going to write the article of this game soon. Please let me ask some questions about the Future plan of the this Game.

1) Is there the plan to spend a double byte character and a TrueType font for?

TFL processes text data by a 1 byte character now. And I know that I use BitMap Font. If there are a double byte character and a TrueType font, I can Japanize it. I want you to tell me it if there is a future plan.

2) Is there the plan displaying an image for an event and news?

As for the strategic screen of TLF, all information is shown only by a text. Facilities making and study completion, quest, declaration of war or aggravation of relationships get a real sense more. Gluon computer, wireless network, space elevator. If there is the image that is easy to imagine these, I become easy to recommend it to a friend as high quality hard SF.

I want to hear these because even a future plan is good. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

@folexe:  Thanks so much for the kind words and enthusiasm!  In terms of shifting to a less text-heavy format, or switching to a different style of font, unfortunately neither are in our plans.  We tend to update text nearly daily when development is going on heavily, and so even with languages like German or French similar which are easier to localize to, the results have been something that get out of date extremely fast (with AI War, for example).

I have put that on Keith's list, thanks. :)  It will likely not be until early next week, as he has a few other things on his backlog prior to that, but it's on there. :)

And the new one is out. :)

Incidentally, Keith did get to the thing about the declarations of war explanations of why and why not, though not beyond that yet. :)
