I'm about to buy the game. I have a question, then an introduction.
I assume purchasing direct from Arcen gets Chris and Co. the biggest cut. Does that method get me a steam key or just a download? (Sorry, I've searched for this answer but couldn't find it). Getting a steam key is not super important to me, my priority is to support the devs, so I'm mainly curious. I thought I saw somewhere that the Humble store gives Arcen the biggest cut, but I can't imagine that would be true compared to a direct purchase.
Introduction: I never heard of this game until a couple of days ago, and I've never played an Arcen game before. I have, though, heard of Chris Park and Arcen thanks to Chris's past appearance on a podcast. (Can't remember which one, it was either Quarter to Three or Three Moves Ahead). I was so impressed that I decided to try out the demo for Skyward Collapse. Wasn't for me. I looked at AI Wars, and was too intimidated to purchase. So I moved on.
In the past I've played Distant Worlds, Sins, Drox Operative, GalCiv, etc. I've always thought the ideal mix for me would be a game that has pausable real time at the strategic level, but turned-based at the tactical level. Because I'm old and slow. So imagine my surprise when I found that Arcen had read my space sim wish list!
Thanks Chris et al., looking forward to finally sampling an Arcen game
