Buying favor with resources

So I played Betrayal for a while and I got 1million+ Terbium, without ever investing in mines. Got 2 planets, year is 3027.
Constructing a fleet costs what? 1500?
And 10 000 resource gift grant me + 100 favor with any race that doesn´t outright hate me.
Seems a tiny bit unbalanced?

Oh well since they happily attack me with 700+ favor it doesn´t really matter I guess.  :P

Favor is in Betrayal pretty much unimportant. The races will hate you anyway, even if their attitude towards you doesn't show this.
The end game goal is the eridication of all life in the solar system anyway.

Hmm okay. So far it´s pretty easy on hard/hard anyway.

And I seem to have encountered a bug where enemies simply don´t do damage to a fleet stationed at one of my three planets..?
Took the Thorax homeworld and defended it with an armada of 717 strength. Got attacked by enemies with 800 str a times yet it stayed at 717 while the enemy numbers dwindled.
Something I´m not understanding or truly a bug?
