Smuggle In Resistance Fighters
« on: April 19, 2014, 07:04:39 pm »
Did I do this mission the wrong way? It seemed pretty easy: wipe out the enemy defenders before they can hit my troop carriers. I did that, it wasn't hard.

Then came the tricky part: the mission didn't end after the way was clear. I had to spend two hundred and fifty turns herding cats, I mean troop carriers, into the drop point. I couldn't just sit in the drop point, because apparently they think it's awkward to get too close to me and so swerve to miss me. Also, if they "miss" and I have to circle around so that by flying towards me they'll accidentally hit the drop zone, they often overcorrect their course so they aren't flying straight at me (and therefore the drop zone) anymore.

Ugh. That mission was so frustrating. Please, just let it end in success once the enemies are all dead.

How long do they need to take the planet over for you, by the way? I landed all ten ships on a planet with only a million guys (they're Acutians though), and can't see any indication that it's "working".
Furthermore, it is my opinion that Hari must be destroyed.

The Smuggle In Resistance Fighters mission seems to be a pain in general.  When I tried doing the mission, there were infinite small and medium ship spawns for some reason.  It made doing the mission nearly impossible.

I'm pretty sure that how fast you can take over a planet (if you can do it at all) depends on how strong the resistance fighters are compared to the planet's ground troop power.  If you send in a million guys against 72 billion thoraxians for example, there's no chance that you're going to be able to take it over.  If it's 10 million versus 1 million, it's going to be a lot easier.

Well, I sent in Skylaxians against an Acutian world that had been taken over by the Peltians from the Thoraxians. About all I can say is that there are ten troop ships against a million people.

EDIT: The really weird thing is that I got Peltian prisoners from that mission, even though they weren't the owners of the world anymore.

How do resistance fighters take over the planet anyway? I've done this several times(and even used "Give tactic support" option) but I've never seen them win.

Would be nice if there was easy way to check how the resistance war is going on <_<

Yeah, a bit more information on what's going on. A small window, comparing the powers involved and the expected effects of the resistance given their current strength ("10% monthly chance to destroy random building", or whatever) would be great. I'd also love it if the tactical support dispatch was a little more generous with how much information it gave you.
Furthermore, it is my opinion that Hari must be destroyed.

It might be helpful for starters if resistance troops appeared as attackers on the solar map overlay.

I once poured 30 million Acutian resistance fighters in on a Boarine planet with 50 million inhabitants... I figured that might be an interesting fight.
1 month later (tactical support cut out after 1 month) I had 28 million Acutian Refugees, and 2 million Acutian Expatriates.
...
Dinkleberg!!!
