Questions from a new guy
« on: November 12, 2015, 07:33:03 am »
1. How do I know when the tutorial is finished? What will be the last thing unlocked? I haven't had anything unlock in a while, and I'm not sure what I am supposed to be doing, and I don't know if something else is supposed to unlock.

2. Is there any point in getting leverage with non-Prime Burlust Warlords other than to simply transfer their leverage to the Prime?

3. How do I make trade routes? It said that's the best way to increase inter-racial opinions, but I am not sure how to do it.

4. What other questions did I have because I forgot them.

5. Oh here's one: What happened to my fast forward button?? I just started a new game and there is no fast forward button.

Welcome!

Quickly:

1. What game mode are you in?  That makes a bit of a difference.  The last stuff that is unlocked is I believe to do with the RCI bars.  Basically the tutorial shows you how to play mechanically, but doesn't guide you through strategy too much.  Which might have been an oversight, but it's hard to give too much guidance of that other form in a sandbox.  Basically: make friends with some folks, get them into the federation, and then backdoor the others into the federation or smash them.  The Skylaxians are excellent at backdooring others in.

2. Yes.  If you kill the prime warlord, then one of them will become the new prime.  Sometimes it can be easier to get leverage over the secondaries, so you can always turn one of them, then kill his boss, then twist the screws on him.  >D

3. It's in the political deals, and it's something that usually requires moons to be colonized first.  Not always -- but moons are good sources of resource income for the races in terms of specific types of resources, which is what they need in order to trade.  Exactly how you set up trade deals depends on the race you're talking to.  Only certain CEOs will discuss it, for instance, and only certain Andor parties.  But the Skylaxians and Peltians and some of the others always will.  So sometimes you'll want to go to them to start something up.  Anyway, it's in the political screens.

5. The fast forward button is only present when you are in a contract of some sort.  If you're not in a contract of some sort and you fast forward, you're wasting opportunity!  At least mine something or improve somebodies RCI or what have you.  So you go in there, and then immediately you can FF as much as you like.

1 that's a mistake I remember mount and blade made as well playing the tutorial and then crashing into the actual game is a terrifying experience.

2 doesn't killing the secondary warlords not make the burlusts go nuts like they do if you kill the prime? I swear that's the case.

ps id like to say I have a grievance with the clarity of that I forgot and remembered when I was testing the new expansion it doesn't mention  any were in the political deals screen that killing primes/secondary primes  will send them bananas which seems a bit terrible for such an important detail.

I certainly wasn't aware that killing the primary did anything like making the Burlasts attack people.

So in relation to that, here's a question: What does them attacking people have to do with me? In other words, what do I need to consider before deciding whether I'm okay with them attacking people? Right now I don't know how it matters.

The Burlust will attack the weakest civ they don't like, iirc. This is good if you like the Burlurst and want to make them part of your Federation, and bad if you're trying to keep the other races alive. You need to think about:

--What planet has the weakest army? The actual statistics can be unreliable since the Burlurst typically avoid any races that have joined a faction.

--Whether anyone else is at war with the Burlurst. They go all out when the warlord dies and will leave their homeworld undefended. Another faction that thinks they need to die sometimes take the opportunity to attack.

exactly it really should mention that as part of the details of the duel mission.
