Okay, so, in my current game I'm working on getting the Boarines powered up so that they dont completely suck at combat, what with their one half of an armada that they have. Blasted dolts just arent very good at making ships.
I had stolen Mind Reading and Psionics from others, so I figure, okay, I'll give them these and that'll help research anti-suck technologies later.
I go to gift those two to them, aaaaaand.... it nets me a really absurd 450 influence with them for... some reason. I'd already had 120 with them, so.... yeah.
Is this supposed to happen? I tried gifting another tech I was carrying, which was one of the ground combat ones, and it gave me a whole 6 influence. Dunno how influence gains work with this at all.
EDIT: ...wow, these have a very strong effect indeed, dont they. Wish I'd thought to get those before.

Tech gifting should have been nerfed to 6 influence in direct gifts. Not sure if this is still race dependent (Thoraxians being more appreciative pre-nerf relative to others).
Mantis? peeked at the breakdown to check if that 300 influence is due to tech?

That is definitely a bug. That said, when you gift them something, it also gifts the prereqs for that thing. Still... it's not like you gifted them whatever 460/6 is.

I think I saw this bug too. It seems to happen when you gift a tech +1 prerequisite. You get more influence than you should.
