is it just me or there something a little bit meta about Chris developing dlc a super secret thing for this game while also developing star bound rogue? a game were the hydrals in the future several billion years from here?.
...But Chris ISN'T developing this.
Yep, I've helped out in a few super minor places, and acted as producer, but other than that it's been all Draco18s on the design as well as coding, HUGELY self-sufficient on that, and then the on-staff Arcen artists. It's been a joy to see it come together.
Foreword: I'm just waking up. Hazy ideas has been settling down during this night. Here they are.
Misery is involved in content creation for Starward Rogue? Draco18s is designing a TLF's DLC? Okay. I'm definitely jealous. But it's fine. I mean, it's awesome, I'm not mad, just a bit jealous. But then I'm determined: I will design an AI War expansion. And I'm deadly serious about it. I had ideas for both lore and mechanism lurking around my head for some times, so I'll develop them further, polish and write them down. I don't know where neither when I will submit this, but I will.
Draco18s? Misery? Hear me? You're awesome. Keep it up.
Arcen? Chris & Keith? (and all the team) You're my favorite studio in every aspect: from the games you make to the link you have to your community. I hope you would never stop creating wonders.
Hah, thanks. I'd add some sort of witty comment here but it'd just make me sound even more self-centered than usual.
Really though, they make it into a fun experience. And I was brought in much earlier on SBR than on the TLF expansion, so this time I've been able to suggest gameplay mechanics too, which just adds to the fun. Even if later I cant remember what half of them are.
I had a very minor role in this thing too, in that I made a horrible turret for everyone to probably hate. I'd say "I'm sorry", but it'd be a blatant lie.
Draco then tweaked it afterwards, making it either more or less evil, I'm not sure.
Other than that though, I've known of this project for some time now. It certainly has some pretty nice ideas and content in it, I think. I'll be interested to see how well it's received and what you all think of the whole thing. That's one game that I think just gets better and better when more and more options and bits of content are added, kinda like AI War. I dunno about everyone else, but I cant see this one hitting a point of "too much" anytime soon. The more, the better. Like with AI War.
And I'll agree, favorite dev studio is these guys, yep. Some of my favorite games have come from them. And it's good to see ACTUAL community interaction. Particularly with the way they actually take suggestions and such from people... I've only seen a couple of other devs do that. With most developers, indie or otherwise, they never add anything thought up by the community unless half of said community rambles about it for like 6 months straight; THEN they might consider it. It's a shame, too. I think more devs should do it the way it's done here. If I were to make a game, I know it's how I would do it.
