The icon is great, but what's more great is that there IS an icon. My eye twitched every time I loaded this site and that "image loading fail" showed in its place.

Yeah, that was completely accidental, but I noticed that when there was 1v1 ship combat in this game. It bugged me a bit how those might be taken as similar, even though FTL has always had really different combat from what we were doing here. Now that this has RTS-style combat, though, there's really no similarity at all, which is something I'm happy about.
Interestingly, a part of the way I came up with the name was that I knew I wanted to have the word "Federation" in the title, but I couldn't do something that was already trademarked or the name of an existing book or game. So, whew, that took a lot of thinking and then googling to see if something was already there. And almost everything was. I really hit a stroke of luck with a name that I both loved that also was not taken.
