I 'm really looking forward to doing AAR's of this game so knowing what's going on as I play will be key. If it all happens in the blink of an eye I might miss something important.

Getting the flow of time just right will really help but probably take a bit of time and playtesting.

The game is getting better with each update and is shaping up to possibly be one of my favourite Arcen games. The personalities of the alien races really come out even at this early stage, the game also makes politics fun which is no easy feat  :)

Can't wait for the next update as each one just makes the game better and better, keep up the good work guys.

I can understand being frustrated at how much the situation can change over the course of a dispatch, but at the same time I do think taking longer dispatches or engaging in longer projects in general should carry significant risk.

You're supposed to be a relatively small party in all of this and it makes sense for the various races to sometimes be able to do more than you can in a given amount of time with the total resources they have at their disposal.

Before you take a longer dispatch you should look at the current situation to try to predict what's going to happen next and whether it is safe to do so, that's what all the information is for.
If you decide to commit to a project that takes long time without considering the possible consequences then the game can and should burn you for it.

Not sure getting  burned is all that helpful.

but that is just my opinion,

It's not that it was carrying higher risk:  It's that it was giving a 100% chance of utterly wrecking everything with total chaos.  There was no way to predict anything due to the sheer amount of stuff that'd happen.... your strategies unravel quickly, but the AI and RNG keep going long after that point, with the longer ones.   Prediction and planning dont work at all on the longer ones.  Or even much on some of the shorter ones.

That being said, the ability to do things to lower those numbers was what I was hoping would appear.   Though, general costs still likely need to be looked at.

The costs are actually really good, I think.  These are the costs that it takes the AI to research them, too.  Having you be able to speed through them would be a real problem.  The issue is that you have to really pursue technical prowess in order to get these techs faster.  The Skylaxians in one game I saw had a 250-something multiplier for science, versus what you're looking at is more like 1 or 1.5.  So I mean, the buildup has already been there.  You aren't supposed to speed through the tech tree.  But coming up soon, you'll have more power with the merc scientists.
