we are going to have to declare this game feature-complete at this point
So, no achievements before release?
Ah, sorry, the achievements are still coming. The ones beyond what we already have, I mean. The total planned is, I believe... 43? Something like that. Anyway, the remaining ones are quick to add, relatively speaking.
Just out of pure curiosity: Do plan any amount of immediate post-release support aside from bugfixes for TLF?
Or will you hop straight on to get that SHMUP out of the door ?
If the former is the case, maybe a couple of quests could be snuck in there as well - especially if Keith's framework is as great as you said some weeks ago .
I am holding my fingers (and toes for that matter) crossed for a successful launch! I hope to see *much* more of TLF for a very long time .
Kudos!
I have not discussed this with the staff yet, but IF this game is successful on launch, then I hope to jump right into a TLF expansion as our next project, for release in very early June. During that time we'd be adding a bunch of stuff to the base game, too. Given what happened with both Valley 1 and Skyward -- basically, a ton of post-release support that wound up enormously eroding any hope of profitability for the game (let alone break-evenness) based on a great launch that then tapered -- we have to be sure to always pair the two things. Maybe it's tacky to do post-release content so soon after initial release, but I'm not ready to stop working on TLF yet and we're going to give you a bunch of stuff for free, too.
The SHMUP is making great strides in the art department, but I'm really not mentally ready to get on to that project just yet. It's great for us to have things ahead of schedule with that project, but probably that will be put on hold until after the first TLF expansion. It's the next full game we'll do, but I don't know that a full game is the next project we'll do, heh.
