Boarines too weak?

Okay, so this one has been bugging me, but I wanna see what others think before I submit this one to Mantis, in case it's just the RNG being a constant snotball each time.

I notice that, so far, in every game I've started the Boarines really get the short end of the stick, and I dont mean planet compatibility.  It's more like they just never have enough strength to really hold out in the solar system.

In my current game they have a high compatibility of like, 3.0, which is pretty darn good, but they STILL just seem to have trouble really getting going at all.  I like the way these guys function, so I typically try to help them, but.... it's very, very hard to accomplish things with them.  They've been spacefaring for awhile in my game, but they have so very little military strength.... even one of the currently weaker races like the Peltians, who dont have much in the way of armadas, could eat the Boarines alive right now.

It's hard to get armada production going with these guys, it's VERY hard to get something resembling a birth rate going at all, and even with alot of helpful tech, they just dont seem to get anywhere.  This has been the case for me each time so far.

Thoughts on this?

I had the Boarines build a fear empire and eat through a three member federation last night, so they can get there somehow. Although I'm not familiar enough with the details to be able to tell you yet how they managed it. Somewhere along the way they developed a huge fleet and a distinct hatred for everyone else, and the rest was history. I would have loved to have coaxed them into the federation at some point, but I couldn't really find a way to do it. (Although I think that may just be a bug judging by some other reports)

Hi! I apologize for my english as it is not my native language, I have been reading some posts here and I finally decided to register and post  .
I don't know if they just had bad luck or maybe it is because of their regent's goal in your game. I actually had one playthrough where (looks odd to me, is it "in which"?) I think they joint the union of independent states, the fed crushed the union but the boarines survived and ended forming a fear empire and conquering the whole solar system. I'm not sure if it was a one time thingy, but in this game they looked really strong. I can't say the same for the thoraxians, I have never seen them do anything good in any of my games.
