-Not enough context storywise
I was surprised that the cinematic you used for the story trailer didn't make it into the game. It's got voice acting, a few additional animations and really lured me into the universe. In my opinion it should be in the game because it adds context.
-The game ends too abruptly
I was playing the game and the boarines were the last race not in the federation, the burlusts were attacking them and I just wanted to see how it would all end. The game just cut off to the ending cinematic all of a sudden. It was way too abrupt and basically intrusive. I was watching the war take place, zoomed in on the boarine planet at fast speed (not the super fast one) and it literally cut to the cinematic like "oh were you watching that bro?". There was no stats list at the end or anything.
-Weapons seem imbalanced
Especially the disruptor, because it chews on the enemy hulls so you don't even have to bother taking their shields down. I would finish off the max number of ships the game threw at me in a couple minutes just with that and the spreadshot (and some abilities of course). The other weapons were interesting but nowhere near as useful so they just sat there never to be used. And sure it says that disruptor shots can be deflected by some shield tech but I haven't encountered that in one single fight.
-Abilities seem imbalanced
Or maybe just very situational, I can't really remember all their names right now but I know for certain that the cloaking system is overpowered. You can shoot enemy ships straight in the face at point blank range and not get shot back at, while cloaked.
-Every time you make some deal with a particular senate the game brings you back to galaxy view
This feels tedious at times when you want to take multiple actions.
-Gigacannon projectile
Maybe I'm just blind but I never understood why some triggers of this ability would hit and why some would miss. Because there doesn't seem to be a projectile or anything associated with it. What's also weird is that once you take off the shields of an enemy ship and you target it with the gigacannon it will sometimes wipe it out completely but only a second after triggering the ability. Maybe I'm missing something. The projectile only appeared for me once I zoomed in really close (and it would them be visible from a more zoomed out perspective as well). At regular zoom it was basically invisible.
-Text overlapping and entry errors
Sometimes text is missing (and that's what I mean by entry errors) and is replaced by error text. And sometimes text overlaps, you might get an example of this by right clicking on the remains of the hydral homeworld. I say might because maybe it depends on other variables as well such as resolution.
-Burlusts exploitable?
Seems like it to me. Everything is just way too easy with them. Kill one of their pathetic leaders, get a boatload of leverage and appreciation. Stop any war (started by them) with the greatest of ease. Easily convince them to join the federation even if they're in an anti-federation alliance.

This is all I've got for now, but maybe the community can discuss this and add to the feedback. Also I'm new here so hopefully I'm posting this in the right place. I'm saying this cause I've seen some other pieces of good feedback scattered around and it looks like it would be hard to track. Any official feedback forums?

There is definitely a projectile from the gigacannon. It doesn't really live up to its name, but it's there. I find I have a lot more luck with it if I'm very close to the other ship when I fire it.

Wow... this is the strangest thing ever. I just got into the game to test this and zoomed in really close. And it was a very apparent projectile. After that I zoomed out and I could see it as well. But until now, at the zoom level I usually play with I haven't seen that projectile.

I've noticed it's something of a trend with Arcen Games. The games are built around the mechanics, and as good of a job as the story writers and composer did to draw you in to the universe, it all gets thrown out of the window in favour of throwing a joke into every single paragraph of text and generally forgetting that there was a story to begin with. "Lay Down Your Arms" is a beautiful song, but the lyrics just don't feel relevant to anything you experienced because of this dissonance between the story and the actual game.
I was hoping it wouldn't be like this after Bionic Dues, but alas, old habits die hard.

Not to mention that it only works if you made a Federation peacefully. If you started a Federation with the most agressive races, and won by killing everyone else, that doesn't work at all.
Except maybe as a "we don't have anyone else to kill, so it's over". But given the nature of the Burlusk, it's highly unlikely.
This is the part where I quote someone in an attempt to look clever? Nah, too mainstream. I used signatures before it was cool.

The song only states that the conflict is over, and is intentionally ambiguous about the means by which it was achieved.

Hang on, you finished the game? How long did it took you?

I've completed the game twice, once on normal/normal and once on hard/harder, although I used the tutorial hull/shield bug because I though that was the normal state of being and the lowered stats from loading a save were the bug.
It honestly doesn't take more than a few hours. I've never even seen a tech 4 UNI upgrade, and the tech 3 one only in an ironman game I failed.

Yeah I'm actually a big fan of these kinds of 2d art with minimal animation if at all once they're tied to a cool little story. I wish they could enforce some more of that. Also a couple more animations would have been great, like for the whole solar system for example. Even just little details but that's a minor gripe. As is the case with the ending song. Which I also didn't find to be fitting at all. You have this themed music for each race the entire game and at the end you get a voiced song which feels really disconnected. Add to this the very abrupt ending and the lack of stats and it's not the hottest thing ever.

6 hours into it and I still haven't started a federation yet. Either I suck -really bad- at this game, or... Well, no "or". I just suck at any game where killing things doesn't magically make me win.

I don't have anything against the ending song itself, just that the overall humoristic tone of the actual game is completely opposite of what it's about.
The ending could be made much better just by removing the dialogue bit and just having the credits roll on the left side of the screen. And of course some sort of fade out from the campaign map, it's way too abrupt.
