What happened? I used to be able to play this.
« on: March 25, 2015, 07:17:44 pm »
Wow. I used to be able to play this game. I haven't played for a while but after Steam updating the game a few times I decided to play it to see how it has changed and it is impossible to play. The buttons do not work well. I can't quit the game unless I force quit it.

The 1st timeI tried it today it opened up in full screen 2560x1440 on my iMac (it took a very long time) and was running very slowly and jerky so I went into settings and turned it down to 1600x900 windowed mode but although it is in windowed mode it still fills my 2560x1400 screen instead of being 1600x900.

It takes forever to initialize, and I always have to force quit it.

I am on a late-2009 27" iMac running Mavericks.

This game used to run perfectly about a year ago.

As I also use an iMac (late 2011) to play TLF, I thought I'd check whether I'm now having the same issue.

It seems to work fine, yet I did see some exceptions appear and disappear in the right hand text message window and also white bounding boxes over the planet screen ships (see attached image and log).

I noticed an update today, could this be related to this?

Okay, it looks like it's been a super long time since I responded to this, but actually I responded a while back and then the forum wasn't sending emails and then the forum rollback ate the post itself.  Yay!

Anyhow, a couple of things:

1. Relating to the first problem, things not really being playable anymore for you Tokyodan, I set up two different beta builds for you in Steam.  Can you check them out and see if either of them work for you?

2. Relating to your problem, Sounds, the error is this: Failed to find index! Images/Particles/ShotHitShip/ShotHitShip_Dict.png
When you look inside the RuntimeData folder, do you find that file, with that capitalization?  It should be there correctly.  I wonder if steam didn't download it -- sometimes stuff like that happens.  If so, you can hit verify local cache and that will fix it.

Thanks!
Chris
