In a bundle already?
« on: July 31, 2014, 10:37:12 pm »
So it seems that if you wanted to pick up The Last Federation, you could grab it and a whole mess of other sci-fi games at the Humble Weekly Bundle for fifteen dollars.

I can only hope that this is just to have as fertile a plain as possible for DLC sales, and not out of any sort of desperation. :-\
Furthermore, it is my opinion that Hari must be destroyed.

I doubt it's out of desperation since they've already apparently passed the break-even point on TLF and its unreleased expansion. Probably just priming the community for the expansion.
I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.

It's in the bundle, yes, but it's the "have to pay at least $15" bracket.  So not exactly giving it away :)

Yeah, there's that at least. Not like the people who are like "here, have my game for a dollar". But I doubt that all of the nine dollars in between the $6 and $15 bracket (or even the percentage of those nine dollars the buyer chooses to pay to the developers) are earmarked for Arcen. I'd be really curious to know what this bundle does for TLF's revenue.
Furthermore, it is my opinion that Hari must be destroyed.

I wouldn't say desperation. It is probably just a calm, rational business decision.

Yep, not desperation by any stretch.  It's actually a very very low discount given the price bracket it is in.  So the number of copies that people get of the game, versus the money we make off it, is not terribly much more of a discount than what we did in the Steam summer sale.  And it's some added money (yay!) and exposure (yay!) and so forth.  Humble approached us about it, not the other way around.
