[suggestion] Review final position after a loss
« on: November 26, 2014, 09:49:48 am »
This may have been covered before, but a quick search didn't uncover anything.

I'm currently trying to stop the Trifecta of Superiority from overwhelming the last race (Skylaxians, as it happens. yay for the Ark :P). This is hard, and I freely admit I've reloaded a few times. However, at least once, I have, without warning, gone from the solar map to the "you lose" outro ("apparently they just don't like YOUR form of co-operation" ...). When this happens, I have *no* idea why. The Skylaxians have 3 planets, so it wasn't conquest. Either they formed a one-race alliance of their own or they joined the ToS - but I don't *know*, so it's hard to decide how to react to it / prevent it, or what warning signs to look out for if I start a new game.

It would be great if we could review the final positon of the game after a loss. Even something as simple as returning to the game with it permanently paused and all contracts disabled, etc, would allow me to review the event log, racial relations, alliances, etc.

Side note: thanks for a game which continually surprises me. When the ToS formed, the whole nature of my goals changed in an instant (from "get the Look upon your Creation..." achievement to "holy moly, how am I going to stop them now?"). Awesome work!

Welcome to the Forums :).
I asked for something similar recently in a somewhat different context.
Unfortunately this does not look to be feasible according to Keith and Chris (Arcen's devs) :-\.

Thanks for the welcome, I'm a long-time lurker :)

That's a shame - learning from my mistakes was something I had to do to improve at AI:War, but there you usually have 30mins of being trashed by large fleets to analyse what went wrong ;) This goes from (roughly) the same state it's been in for 5 solar years to game over in the blink of an eye - clearly some racial attitude to something has been slowly changing and just hit a threshold, but there's no way to learn from it.

Hmm, maybe an automatic auto-save pulled immediately before a loss or  win state Is detected would be a compromise?
