Awesome!  To the questions:

1. Yes on all that with the BP.  Although in terms of affecting costs, your influence with them affects only the BP costs in politics, not anything else.  And it doesn't always affect that, it depends on the race.

2. Yes, the minimap supports that, it was the third button up there next to the plus and minus.  I should have shown that.

3. Battle clock is a good idea, I'll add that to the notes.

4. The cesium is mainly to gain some influence with another race who needs cesium; it's only good for those who don't already have an abundance of it.  I doubt strongly we'll do a game encyclopedia, but the contextual information should spell everything out right when you need it.  Right now it does some of the time, and not most of the time.  That's one of the big reasons this is still Round 0, is because I'm still wading through all those contextual explanation needs.

YouTube is fine, it was my computer having issues.
question: is it possible to move your ship out of centered? across the screen? Or pull the zoom back farther?

Thanks much,

When you asked, it wasn't fully finished processing, so it really was youtube.  All good!

No on both counts -- the idea is that this is essentially your "field of view," and you're thus constrained by that limitation in terms of what your battlefield intel is.

Just finished the video, and I feel like I have a better handle on what to do in the strategic portion of the game.  I'm still fairly clueless about most of it, but at lease I have some sense of direction now.  The combat has come a long way, and I find myself enjoying it much more now.

What are the chances of there being some movement of the background?  There is little sense of movement when there are no other objects around the ship.  If not background movement, then could the dust particles move in the direction opposite your ship?

I saw there was Economic, Public Order, Environmental, and Medical for Planet Quality.

Are there plans for Scientific/Education/ and Cultural/Arts/Entertainment?

OMG. I so want to play this :D.
Keep it up! If you are not in for a hit this time, I seriously don't know what you should do...

BTW: Chris, are you aware that the Copyright notice at the utmost bottom of the game page only extends to 2011? Might want to fix that ;)...

The backgrounds really can't move, because they don't wrap and you can go infinitely in any direction, and they're just static images.  But the dust particles DO move in the direction opposite your ship already, for that reason.  Are you not seeing that?  There are two layers of them that move at different speeds.

I saw there was Economic, Public Order, Environmental, and Medical for Planet Quality.

Those sound like really good ideas for either post-1.0 or an expansion!  I've added that to my list for potential things in that category.

Oops, good catch!  Never updated that since switching to joomla.  Updated it now!

Awesome!

 here is another one:

Tourism (is high if race is peaceful and open minded, the more allies the higher it goes up because the citizens of those races feel comfortable visiting the planet)

Also Public Order could be renamed to Morale / Society if you just wanted one word per category.
