Lore and End
« on: May 22, 2016, 03:46:22 am »
Hello.

My save file displays "Overall Completion: 70%". Before, it used to say "5 floors per run, X more wins to get 7-floor runs", but now it gives no more direction about how to progress to 100%. In the statistics of this file, there is some bosses and condemned enemies that are  "unknown - not yet found" and some condemned enemies that are "unknown - locked". I believe I have to unlock and meet and kill them, however nothing indicate so.
My question is: how to reach 100% completion? (How many heads will I lose again?)

Rodney said I need to kill the warden several times before being able to reach the bottom of the monolith. Then I killed Terminus but there is still no Rodney to rescue. Where is em? Will I have more lore when I reach 100% completeness? I don't remember ey explained why I should rescue em. Did I just missed it?

Also, the wiki for SR is rather poor, to say the least. I may be nice to have a page to explain the lore, the monolith, the end of time, a link to TLF and the hydral, etc. I would do it if I knew the lore. Thing is: I realized I know very few.

Thanks in advance.

Er....

To be honest, this was the one bit of the game that was never completed, aside from the difficulty mode I'm still doing slowly.  There wasn't time, there wasn't money, to complete the ending.  That's why there's nothing there.  I don't know why it's not at 100% completion... it might be one of the minor unlocks not done... but there's no ending beyond that, I'm sorry to say.

Unless plans changed at some point without me noticing it, and one of the others can point out if this is the case, the current idea is to insert the rest of the story along with the expansion later this year.

It's a sorry state of affairs, but I doubt I have to explain why it ended up that way.  Bah.

There is more lore written up, if I recall correctly, but I don't think I should go into that.  With my memory I'd probably get it wrong somehow anyway.

The answer to that is simply to find everything and kill everyone. I don't know the conditions to unlock stuff, but in my case it eventually all unlocked just by playing normally. No fancy condition required here. Keep in mind that any content update might drop you back a few percentages, since you'll have to find the new stuff added too to reach 100%.

That unlocking mechnism always seemed quite obscure to me... don't really know how it works or what happens at all. Certainly didn't notice any difference between earlier and later playthroughs. Info should be displayed about what has been unlocked and why and maybe how to unlock specific stuff.
Could work like in "Psycho Starship Rampage" where you have to cancel xx bullets, shoot xx enemies behind you, kill xx enemies with xx, etc. to unlock weapon/equipment yy.

Originally the unlocking was going to work like it does in Valley Without Wind, but it just... sorta got lost in the shuffle.  No, I don't know why.  I think it's just that the original development period was this horrible crazed rush, and everybody just had so much to do... the unlocking stuff was not exactly a priority.

Okay, thanks. I can totally understand that. I can only hope the best for this game.

However I'm curious. I know Watashiwa is more or less in charge of the Arcenverse lore; I wonder how deeply he was involved in that whole end-of-time/hydral/monolith-plugged-in-a-star stuff. I can't even be sure Chris had a precise idea about how that story would end. I would love to hear what's to be heard.

Boy! We don't even know why we're crawling in that monolith!

The Lore as I understand it.

Universe and Hydraal are dying. Secret clues to fixing that problem are in the Monolith. While entering the Monolith "Rodney" contacts you and asks you to get him out. Monolith is somehow repeating/repairing/rotating itself, as demonstrated through multiple runs that are similar, but different. Eventually you are able to kill Warden and Terminus, and find out Rodney isn't telling you everything. Then Misery's secret boss tricks the Hydraal into thinking your run is over and kills the player mech (i.e., throw that mech into the scrap heap). The gateway to defeating the final boss and unearthing Rodney's secret plan rests in the hands of a team of scrappy kids and their dog.

Is that Arcen? Scrappy kids and a dog?

With SBR being frozen, SR not having its complete ending yet, and the upcoming RR sitting between BD and AIW, I have to admit I'm really frustrated on the Arcenverse's lore, these times. I would be more than willing to participate in that whole Arcenverse tying-up-together. Maybe gotta PM Watashiwa if he keeps avoiding my threads.  ;D
