Steam Guide
« on: January 27, 2016, 04:15:57 am »
I would liek to make a Steam Community Guide for Starward Rogue because I think the game would benefit from it. Am I allowed to use the game art files fort the guide so I can show peopl how the different items, enemies and bosses look like?

I really doubt anyone would consider it a problem.  A guide is meant to inform, after all, and the best ones use visuals.

No problems at all. Legally speaking (fair-use laws in most countries), you're always allowed to use a percentage of those game assets to make things like this, and I know a main reason Arcen doesn't zip-and-encrypt them because we can use them more easily (I worked on AI War stuff before).

I thought so but it's always better to ask and clarify it.  :)

I'm currently working ont he guide, it will of course take a lot of work and time but progress is going good so far.
Just a question: tehre are a lot images ofitems I haven't seen int he game. Is every image in the folders used or are some just leftovers or intended for future updates?
For example, the Dimond Drill. Is an item named like this or with this image in the game? I don't want to add stuff to the guide that hasn't been released yet or may never be.

Some of the images are for things that are not released, or are for things that got renamed.

If you look in the RuntimeData/Configuration folder, there are xml files that have different forms of items in there, and you can pull their names and descriptions straight out of the files.
