Is it possible to play through this without using the mouse at all, or can it easily be added as a feature? I have a few friends who say that it is really challenging to use both the keyboard and mouse and they don't like controllers, but if it was just the keyboard they would be fine with the loss of finer movement options.

Sure, any button that would be bindable to a gamepad also is bindable to the keyboard... or mouse.  If you had a 15-button mouse you could play completely on the mouse and nothing else, too. ;)

Ahaha, wow.  I have a mouse like that, too, but it's literally painful to use.  I was given it for free as an attempted promotion back in like 2011.

Mine is a Razer Naga.  I'm not crazy about it, but it was also free.  It gets the job done, so I'll keep it until it breaks or a better one falls into my lap.
