Title: First Arcen game since AIW that really pulled me in
Post by: Mánagarmr on January 23, 2016, 12:53:34 pm
I've been a LONG time supporter of Arcen. Way back since AIW 2.0 and even earlier, if I remember correctly. I own every Arcen game ever, except Shattered Haven (gameplay is not at all my schtick) and I've spent 10+ hours in most of them. Skyward Collapse and Bionic Dues are still on my "to do" list.

This game though, pulled me in from the first second with it's easy to grasp, easy to get into gameplay. Hard to master, easy to get into. A perfect game. It helps that I'm a bit of a roguelike/schmup nut, so this blends genres perfectly.

Well done, Arcen+community! You've done great with this one! Once I have a few hours nailed down into this one and beat it at least once, I'll have a Steam review posted.

Thanks for a great game!

Thank you very much; glad to hear it :)

Just look out for the rooms full of exploding barrels...

You're never going to let me forget that, are you? XD

Well, I wouldn't have mentioned it except for there actually being rooms filled with things that explode into walls of flame if you shoot them too much.

But I can move that over to my "list of recurring bad jokes to stop telling" ;)

I completely agree.  This game is superbly wonderful.  I think I also own every Arcen game, except Tidalis.

This one could by my favorite, even topping Shattered Haven.  I just LOVED that game.  Am I the only one?

I played the heck out of Valley Without Wind and Valley 2.  I didn't really get that much into Skyward Collapse and Bionic Dues, although I enjoyed them.

I just don't grok The Last Federation at all.  It's like reading War and Peace in Russian to me.

Congratulations on Starward Rogue.  You done good.  I hope it sells well so you can continue to support it!

I also can't wait for Stars Beyond Reach.

Hoopla!

I didn't get Last Federation the first time I played it. Played for a few hours, won a game and then just left it. I've gone back to it now later and I'm finding it a fair amount more enjoyable now that I took the time to understand it.

yea tlf realy is an aquired taste compared to a lot of arcens other titles whitch are usualy just a little bit accesisble but is there anything in particular you dont realy get about it? ( if so id be happy to give you some pointers since i used to play that game to death back in the day back even when acutions were broken to all hell if not then i guess the game just isnt going to be your cup of tea. ps by the way does anybody else remember the federation points system and how terrible it was? just curious realy?
