Well, now I have an interesting save...  I got to level 5/5 on hard and used the consumable breaking the 4th wall just to see what happened.  Previously it had completed the current level and I started the next, but I'm not sure which floor I'm on currently. 

Is there a way to determine which floor I'm currently on?

Also what should happen after skipping floor 5/5 on hard?  I haven't seen the Warden or done anything interesting with this save really...

Finally downed Warden... I can't say it was a fair fight though, I had drones.  Two basics I used to punch holes in P3s "arms".  I took maybe 4 hits, 2 in 4  and 2 in 5.  I can't really say I could tell what was going on in 4/5 since there was so much stuff in the air (both sides).  5 was cool to see in action though.

To be fair, Misery, these bosses look very easy compared to what you usually consider "normal" difficulty. ;)

Yep.

Were I to take it THAT far, I suspect most players wouldnt even be able to tell what was going on.  Like that first attack from the first boss in Mushihime-sama's Ultra mode, an attack I just call "The Blur".  Everyone I show it to cant even see what's going on, they say.  I think it's easy.

I've played these a bit too much, perhaps.  Just maybe.

The short range of the main attack and the bloated hitbox (comparatively) of the mechs in this game though do make designing these harder.


Finally downed Warden... I can't say it was a fair fight though, I had drones.  Two basics I used to punch holes in P3s "arms".  I took maybe 4 hits, 2 in 4  and 2 in 5.  I can't really say I could tell what was going on in 4/5 since there was so much stuff in the air (both sides).  5 was cool to see in action though.

Pattern 4 isnt as hard as it looks, though I suspect it's one that people get stuck on alot.

Cool.  I did P2 in the same corner.  It kinda plays like Wallmaster in a way (move just enough to dodge what's coming right at you).  I also noticed you use "Slow" and "Sprint" exclusively.  Do you ever use the normal move speed?  That's what (I guess) most of us use as main and I don't think I even know where the "Slow" button is.

The game really does need to explain the slow button.  I'm betting that'll be fully pointed out in the tutorials... I *think* Chris said in an email that those are either added in his new build, or are about to be. 

I use slowdown in all congested patterns, but I'll sprint merely out of impatience (most players SERIOUSLY shouldnt try doing that against heavy attacks usually; even for me it leads to things like ramming stationary bosses sometimes, which is just as idiotic as it sounds).  It is a very important function to use against anything particularly difficult since it allows precise movement.   Well... almost anything.  Some enemies are definitely about sprinting, not about careful dodging.   I use the normal move speed when applicable.

Slow is auto-mapped to where ever the hell button 8 is... 

I hardly sprint unless I am fully clear to do it, so I am almost always moving in normal.  And seeing you do P3 Warden, I can't make that pattern do that at all :/

Just takes some practice.  Try using sprint a bit around low-level enemies until you get more used to it (when there's no hazards around, that is; sprint + hazards = ARGH CALTROPS).   It's not the easiest thing to use, but it sure is great once you get the hang of it.

It sounds like you might have hit floor 6.  I'm not sure.  I've not really messed with that item to see what happens.

Hm, yeah, I'm not sure if that's supposed to happen with that item or not if you havent defeated the Warden enough times yet.  I'm guessing you're not playing with everything already unlocked?  If that's the case, that might be a bug to report.  Though again I'm not sure, it might be intentional for all I know.  I seem to recall a couple of other games in this genre having such a thing that can potentially allow early access to locked floors.

It's a completely new save, so I haven't defeated the warden at all on that one.  Honestly, I'm fine if it makes me re-do level 5 as that's the deepest I should be able to go, also going to floor 6 is also fine. The UI just doesn't provide sufficient feedback to see what it's doing.  I also wonder if I am on floor 6, did that unlock floor 6?

You are correct, I'm not playing with everything unlocked, I figure I'm slightly more likely to find out of depth issues that way.

I almost hate to ask, but are the unlock conditions hinted at anywhere in the game?  So that the player has some idea that there's a reason to keep playing after beating the Warden?

I'm not sure how much is explained right now; if the tutorials are in, I havent seen them yet.  But unlocking the later floors involves defeating the Warden a number of times.  After doing it enough, the later floors will open.   Items and such of course have assorted other methods of unlocking.  None of which I can remember.

I doubt it unlocked floor 6 via that item for you though, my guess is that the unlock triggers specifically when the Warden is defeated if you've hit the requisite number.
