Chrono Empire might be very interesting if there were a specific emphasis on Time in the 4x play of the game.
* Perhaps if there were a descending timer in which to achieve certain goals? (x turns to win the game?) (x turns to kill 5 challengers?) (x turns to bring over 50% of the other empires into diplomatic discussions of peace?) (x turns to achieve +50% influence with 80% of other empires) (bring 5 empires into research parity by x turns) (subvert +75% of 5 empires economies, effectively collapsing their financial ability) (etc...)
It might be interesting to have these timers set by the player at the beginning of the game.
easy = +200 turns
normal = 100 to 200 turns
hard = less than 100 turns
very hard = less than 75 turns
Misery = less than 50 turns
I am not sure this could fit in with what Chris sees for the game, but i mention it because i found it intriguing to consider the player selecting how many turns they were competing against, and then feel pressured to perform under different game conditions from game to game. And for the different variety of conditions (other than battles) to win the game.
Just my two cents though,

p.s. hope this is not out of place in the naming thread, if so i can delete the other stuff, just wanted to agree Chrono Empire could be cool if there were 'Time' stuff in the game.
Maybe even Time Travel?
Now that might be a handful though.
