Title: Death in the family.
Post by: x4000 on September 20, 2015, 10:48:04 am
Hey guys,

So, my grandfather passed away yesterday afternoon.  He was almost 96 and in declining health, so this was not a huge surprise, but we thought he still had weeks at least.  So still a bit of a shock.  For those working on writing and so forth, that's why I'm taking unusually long to get back to you, and I apologize.  I'm going to try to get caught up on everything today and tomorrow, but in terms of work my first priority is getting it to a point where we can hopefully get back to some level of beta testing tomorrow.

Thanks,
Chris

Take all the time you need, we arent going anywhere.  Something like that happening is never easy to deal with; you have my condolences.

I appreciate it, guys.  Unfortunately I can't really slow down much at all, but such is life.  I'll be out later this week for the funeral, but beyond that I'm trying to keep my mind on work, etc.

I am very sorry for your loss. I remember my grandfather. I was young and didn't quite understand. I am older now and it is still hard to understand. Maybe we just need to cry and be with friends and family and as you say, try to stay distracted. I lost my brother too, to leukemia. I know that losing them is inevitable, but still it is hard to deal with it. Some people say it makes them value life more, me it just rattled me pretty good for a bit. And it is nice to feel it means something, but it didn't make me value life more, just made me sad for a good while. Sorry, I don't me to carry on or to sound morbid, i apologize if it sounds that way. I just wanted to say i know how it feels, and its a lousy feeling. I just wanted to be supportive and just let you know all of us on the forum care for all of you.

Damn that sucks, luckily I have never had someone I know die yet as both my grandfathers died before I was born.

My uncle, who was the closest thing I had to a grandfather for most of my life, passed away a week earlier in much the same circumstances.

*hugs*

Thanks again for all your condolences, thoughts, and prayers everybody.  And jerith, I'm really sorry to hear about your loss as well.  :(

The funeral on Friday was good.  It was cathartic in the way funerals are supposed to be, although I still haven't really fully processed this whole thing.  Anyhow, for now I'm focusing on work and family.

Thanks again, everyone.
