Untainted Gameplay Update!
« on: June 04, 2015, 02:08:33 am »
TLDR at bottom if your in a rush.
-----------------------------------

Alrighty, in my last post i had about 2-3 hours of play time. Now I am at 8 hours of game play and I feel very good about the game. Soooooooooo much better than before. I have discovered multiple systems in the game and the game suddenly came alive for me. I have that 1 more turn itch (this is me personaly). So with my new found vision, here is an update on my first 8 hours.

+ 1. Once more, love this game. I think the fact that I've played 8 hours in 2 days speaks for itself....

+ 2. Music just got added. Yes, yes and more yes. Completely set the mood for the game. Makes me want to sit back, drink some beer, and build a beautiful (smog covered) city.

+ 3. It took about 5 hours of game play but i finally understand adjacency bonuses. This may have just been me, but once i figured it out, the game changed for the better in my mind.

+ 4. Going along with number 3, at around the 6 hour mark was the first time I used a harvester on some Terbilium. Once more the game instantly took off. So your telling me that if i mine that
terbilium, and add it on to my data cluster, and place the cluster next to my science labs, I boost my science production by 50%? and then add a molecular refinary on top of it all? love the interactions.

+ 5. Going along with number 4, now that i understand how important these resources are, I find myself fighting tooth and nail for the resources i see important. Through war, or (my favourite yet) letting a monster destroy the building for me, killing the monster, and taking the resource for myself. So good.

- 6. I still love the graphics, however now that my city has grown a lot, it gets difficult to differentiate buildings. Perhaps have a way of highlighting similar buildings?

- 7. The beginning of the game needs to incorporate some of the above love I have gained. Once the game opened up i felt free

- 8. I still do not understand the underground system. This definitely, big time, 100% needs to have care and love put into a tutorial about it. In my eyes at least, underground is the most confusing part.

Well, there is my update. Ill continue to play, submit mantis reports, and update on my findings as a yellow shirt. For now, I gotta go back and fight off some monsters.

----------TLDR---------------
1. Fun Game
2. Music Rocks
3. Adjacency system rocks, needs explanation tho
4. Resource ^       ^      ^            ^        ^          ^
5. Systems interacting with 3&4 are fun and engaging
6. Bigger cities hard to distinguish buildings
7. Opening turns are lackluster when compared to the amazing mid game
8. Underground system super confusing

ai war keeps kicking my ass
