the spire are terrifying
« on: June 04, 2015, 06:41:00 pm »
does anybody else find the spire utterly terrifying in this game? granted they don't usually bother you if you don't bother them first but still I feel like I have to trust them not to incinerate my city not that I'm implying that's a bad thing I actually quite like that I'm just curious if anybody else here feels the same way about them?. ps is it just or does it seems like their the only race with ai that reacts appropriately to you attacking them?

I have not tried attacking them but I have found that they are a very imposing race. I think this is a result of them having a massive amount of floating things compared to say, the neinzul. That combined with the fact that they are pretty OP does make an imposing presence.

indeed if they weren't so passive towards the player I would consider them in need of a nerf but because of the passiveness I consider them perfectly implemented now weather Chris considers them perfectly implemented is enougher question.

Fighting the spire is pretty boring, though. They're immune to missiles, so I tend to just fill half the map with helipads and click them to death.

Yeah the zenith are immune to missiles too so that war took forever to end.

did the spire actually retaliate and attack you in the last 2 games I've been any attacks I've made on them has resulted in blowing my buildings to kingdom come? if not it may just what Chris mentioned with the ai being deliberately  passive at the moment?.

In my last game against them, they did nothing for a while, then one turn then they shot all my helipads to death. Then I rebuilt them and killed some more of them with a lot, a lot, a lot of clicks...and by the time I was done killing their front-liners they had spawned another dozen of their white bastards all over the place. Then they killed my new helipads, I rebuild them again...

...clicklickclickclickclick. So much clicking, so little effect other than annoyance.

forgot I made this topic in till now sorry for the late reply that's interesting I guess the spire might need a buff/rework if this is still the same way when Chris decides its time to turn the ais aggression on ill suggest that to Chris.

so now with this new territory mechanic is there that silly click feast personally I saw 5 races spawn a bed of saucers in an attack out of fear on the spire....which then got completely demolished.

yea making friends with them isn't to difficult although they tend to not really help you in wars I've noticed due to them not really caring.

I generally just make friends for the sake of making friends, mostly because diplomacy is not up to stuff, but yeah the Spire dont really enter wars of their own accord, but I am not sure. Also have any of you noticed that none of the races never want a ceasefire, pretty odd.

Before the territories, if you waited for "a while" (like about 20 turns or 30), they stopped attacking.

But AFAIK, diplomacy is due for a rework - it's not supposed to be anywhere near finished.

yea pretty much spire not giving a shit about wars is I'm fairly certain a character trait though and an interesting one at that.

Wow, it has been a quiet day for posts today, anyway, just discovered that burlustian barracks with all the social policy upgrades do about 1500 damage which is pretty crazy. Despite that the spire mothers (i think) have about 60 000 health. In other words it would take about 45 turns to kill one of these with one barrack at max level, notto mention that there are alot of mini ones and about 3-6 mothers. In other words hit them with the nerf bat pls.
