I'm not hearing any music anywhere in the game, and the menu options don't do anything either. What am I doing wrong?

It's not hooked up to the game yet. You can find the files in RuntimeData/Music wherever Steam put the game and play them with your favourite music player. (I'm an old-school unix hacker, so I use mplayer from the command line, but anything that plays .ogg will be fine.)

In AI War, all of the Zenith themes were more focused on the fact that they were ancient and dead, and so were more laments and ambient tracks and so forth.  That fit AI War perfectly, but here the Zenith are alive and well and very dangerous, and so that didn't feel appropriate.  Bionic Dues never really caught on with a wider audience despite how well it is liked by those who do play it, so I figured that some of the better tracks from there would be great to pull over to this title.  And the overall sound of this theme fit my vision of the active Zenith.

It definitely fits the theme of the Zenith. Mechanical/technical sounds for a cyborg race. Perfect.
But... the Zenith aren't cyborgs. All their tech and their weapons are grown. They're robotic in the sense that they're made of component materials that aren't naturally occurring in our organic life, but they're not cyborgs until humans go in and repair broken Golems.

I haven't seen any mention of new music recently. Do we already have all we're going to get? Is Pablo cackling over his Überorgan in an underground lair, composing mad ballads for us while the volcano erupts overhead? Have I lost what little sanity I still had?

I'm thoroughly enjoying all three of the ingame suites, but I'm kind of hoping there's a fourth. And a fifth. And a sixth. (I can count way up into the double digits.)

These things take a huge amount of time to really get perfect on his end.  There is one more suite coming if I recall, and then more ambient tracks after that (ala some of the AI War tracks that are less melody-driven).

And wow, does he really get them perfect.

Excellent. I can't wait.

I hope this gets in fairly soon.  The sound is really sparse without any music, and Pablo's stuff usually adds a lot to a game.

* The music for the game is now properly hooked up so that it actually plays, except for the race-specific music, which will only play under circumstances which don't exist yet (but will soon).

Was that just added?  I wasn't hearing any music when I was playing last night.

Sorry, that's my way of noting that something has just gone into the release notes.  So, yes, that will be in the next version. :)

I have to admit that I never really liked the music in the previous Arcen games but Pablo nailed it this time. It fits really good to the setting and doesn't become repetitive after a while. Well done!!!

Bionic Dues ... Something like 10% of my "playtime" in that game is listening to The Home That We Once Knew all the way through before I get into my giant robots to go kill other giant robots.
Me too!  That piece is brilliant, simply the best song I've heard in any game, ever.
