How to build flying saucers?
« on: June 26, 2015, 09:20:10 am »
I played liked a few games to the middle, and I still can't figure out how to build flying saucers. I also can't seem to find anything mentioning this in the tech tree.

Is this something that only the AIs have or am I missing something obvious?

I'm pretty sure only the AI has them.

you don't get to use flying saucers full stop(unless Chris has gone mad and forgot to mention intentions for that) closest thing you have to saucers is helipads which are used by you in a completely different way.(almost)

Is there a thematic reason why everyone has saucers but you?  ;)

Also does the beta have any story/plot elements yet? Or is that still a work in progress?

They have alien tech. You have earth tech downloaded from a computer. Earth didn't build any flying saucers.

No story.

I'm thinking that maybe the player should have saucers, too. Maybe. Might improve combat.

Ah okay, I guess the Stars Beyond Reach: Tales of Woe YouTube series is canon. I thought it was just for one race and you would have different buildings. But I guess if you  the race you play always were basing tech off of earth radio signals it would make sense.

Isn't there a tech that mimics the effect? Wars of Aggression lets you plop down military buildings via daisy chain, unless I'm behind on updates again.

the military command let you build military buildings outside of your district(I don't know if it works the same with territory's) saucers are different from that because they can move around the map by self and generally warp in to were ever they please.

Are you sure? I've never seen a saucer actually move from the spot it appeared in.

If they are I'm pretty sure that's a bug. Saucers is a misnomer, they're temporary offensive structures, not vehicles. Now the Neinzul ones might move around since moving is their thing, but I don't think any of the rest should be doing that.

I think he equated "teleporting in" with moving.

are you sure? I swear Chris said there meant to move around they warp in and I swear I've seen them do that unless I'm just going mad again and imagining things I guess ill have to come back from my break and do a test of this just to be sure.

The only kind of "movement" I've seen is them teleporting in. Then again, I do shoot them on sight.
