3 hours of untainted gameplay, my thoughts
« on: June 02, 2015, 11:16:35 pm »
EDIT:"I have attached the game save from which this post was written just so people can see where my heads at more clearly with what i am writing here."

Hello, i'm a yellowshirt who has been keeping no tabs on the game other than some front page stuff so I went into this fairly blind. Here are my thoughts after 3 hours of game play, and ill put it in point form and keep it brief.

+ 1. I'm having fun. This, in the end, is all that matters. I keep re-opening the game when i get a break.

- 2. Game Really needs a tutorial of some kind.

- 3.  Adjacency bonus needs to be explain better (do buildings give bonuses to all around them or do they receive bonuses?)

- 4. More building information. What the hell does a warehouse do? multiple buildings I have no idea how to use or what they do

- 5. Combat buildings. What does intercept power mean? Not sure what this does.

+ 6. Graphical style is a HUGE plus. Love the look

+ 7. Not sure how to explain this but the game feels smooth. Hard to describe why but it feels responsive, and satisfying to interact.

+ 8. I like the GUI at the top of the screen. Nice size, images, colors and text. Easy to find the information i'm looking for. Perhaps add more clickable elements tho to describe different
gui elements and interactions? (much like max population, LOVE max population description when you click on it. Taught me more about the game than anything else)

All in all, the only negatives i have really boil down to a lack of information or understanding. Improve upon the information a player has access too and you got yourselves a freaking awesome game.

Love It! Keep up the amazing work

Great comments.  I have many of the same questions, being a brand new player myself.

I completely agree with #8.  The max pop description is comprehensive and very helpful.  The game could use LOTS more of these.

Spoiler for Hiden:
- 2. Game Really needs a tutorial of some kind.
>> Yes. Given how much in flux the mechanics are this is on the list, but low priority.

- 3.  Adjacency bonus needs to be explain better (do buildings give bonuses to all around them or do they receive bonuses?)
>> Adjacent buildings get the bonus. They GIVE the bonus.

- 4. More building information. What the hell does a warehouse do? multiple buildings I have no idea how to use or what they do
>> Processes resources to grant adjacency bonuses. There are several different types that process different resources.
Example: You build an extractor on Solar Dragons. Then a GuildHouse to power up your Science Labs using the Solar Dragons.

- 5. Combat buildings. What does intercept power mean? Not sure what this does.
>>Not exactly sure, but roughly, power of attacker versus intercept power of interceptor determines who lives or dies.  Attacks have to break through the interceptors to get to the buildings. They are your first line of defense.

>> There is information in the forum and wiki, but protocol has been to let the new testers find out how things work using their faces.
