Hey all, I just now noticed this sub-thread, so I'm guessing that means I've been or am being included in the next round of beta testers (unless I've managed to totally miss it up till today), but I haven't gotten any message or e-mail at all yet.  Just checking if I should have gotten anything or if it is still making its way through the process.  I'm very paranoid about missing the invite proper because I'm so excited to get to start.

Nope, this has been here the whole time!  There will be new invites going out later today, though, and if you've signed up in the thread about that, you should be getting an invite along with the other new folks.

Heh, probably not.  Depends on what your definition of "evening" is, too.  It's like 6pm for you already, right?  My goal is more like 4pm EST, which would be 10pm your time I think.

The new version is still coming today, but both Keith and I are running slightly behind on a few things.  It's going to take me a few extra hours to get this out.  Probably 9pm EST.

At this point I'm just fiddling with balance and also working on writing descriptions of all the buildings that are in Act I.  There's so much old incorrect information in some of the descriptions (those that even existed at all) it's not even funny.  I don't want people's first experience to be that sort of confusion caused by old descriptions.

Anyway, beyond that it's ready to go, so it will definitely be tonight!

Yeah, plus the all new buildings that look like old buildings. I'm going to be so confused when the Ansible starts suppressing the locals.

Yeah, there's so much stuff in here that is completely repurposed it's going to be a nightmare at first for existing players.  I'm so used to it by now that I barely remember the old way, so hopefully the transition won't take too long for folks.  But it will definitely be nice to have a fresh wave of testers who won't have that existing baggage, haha.

We talked months ago about whether the red shirts should stay on as active players or wait for major updates. I wound up stopping for months, so at worst there'll be some cognitive dissonance with the notable reassignments. I feel really bad for soldiers like ptarth who were actively part of every update, learning and forgetting building identities and entire mechanics has got to be a special kind of hell. I don't think I could do it.
