Community projects are fine.

But I, more then most, know just how hard it was making this game in English where it is needed most, the tutorial.

Considering throughout the whole lifetime of the alpha the tutorial was being modified to make it more clear, I really don't see how for a non native language at launch it would have worked.
Life is short. Have fun.

Well, I've probably said enough on this issue considering I don't really have a personal interest in having a translation -- hey, I don't even speak my native Welsh language. Personally, a community translation project seems like a good idea to me -- especially a THIS community translation project. It seems that there are severe doubts over the quality that can be reached by such a community driven project, though, so of course paying professionals is out of the question unless this game hits number 1 on the Steam sales chart for a month.

Other issues with translations:
a) Fonts - not all fonts are available for all alphabets. This might be the case with the fonts that Arcen use.
b) Variable text width. From what I noticed the engine is not as good wrapping around long lines and fitting the text into designated text boxes. There were cases when developers had to fix this or that part of text that got out of the box. This problem is amplified by the fact that in a different language the same text will have different length. With Unepic it looks especially bad with stats names that are short in english but long in <a different language>. Shortening has to be used and it does not always look and feel natural.

I agree that most of the problems are solvable, but I would also understand if that is something that Arcen chose not to coordinate, because they can spend this time on other things instead. I personally would help with community translation given a chance, but this is something that developers need to want in the first place.

Yeah, it's not quite as simple as getting a quality translation. If there's no real desire to reach out and globalize then I can see why Arcen wouldn't want to spend time on it. There's probably not that much financial incentive to do so.

I pointed out the hover population hover.

Made a suggestion about more plain accessibility http://www.arcengames.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=11684 support if you like ;)
