It's coming today for sure. :)

Will have at least 24 Woes in there, along with the new tutorial.  May have more woes if I wind up with time.  Josh is pre-testing all the woes before we release them, so that we don't have a repeat of the god tokens stuff. ;)

I'm definitely excited about this one as well, as I think there are already a ton of great woes designed out and I've barely tapped into the suggestions from players or the god-specific ones yet.  I really feel like this is the icing for the cake that ties it all together.

How malleable are the names on the Woes?  Some just don't feel thematic or right (Embezzler is committing larceny).

If people have better suggestions, I'm always open.  But I don't know what else to call that; that's literally what that tile is.

And if we just go with things like "Thief" or whatever, there's tons of things that could fall under that.  We're going to have, uh, quite a few woe types, heh. :)

More or less, it is a matter of curiosity and keeping the atmosphere with Greek and Norse mythology.  Would you rather have some random peon make off with your goods or blame that mischievous Loki for making off with your wares? :)

Well, not all of them would work like this, but, I do love the idea of Loki being behind at least some of the mischeif. :)

I like both.  And bear in mind that Greek and Norse just happens to be the civilizations so far.  If we do expansions, we'll expand to other real civilizations as well as made-up ones.

And in terms of the game, there's quite a bit of humor in general inherent and that's something I'm trying to play up some with the woes.  I also very much prefer the idea of random dudes you supposedly rule over causing problems for you -- that whole free will angle, and so forth.  That makes it feel more like a god game, whereas if Loki is messing with me that feels... not like a god game, more like I'm competing with a rival.

I'm pulling from the tragedies.  It was common (as far as I can tell anyway) for the gods to be at odds with each other and the mere mortals they held sway over.

If I had to place "The Creator" in the pantheon of Greek Gods, it would be just below Chaos (because everything came form Chaos) and our role is like that of a titan version of Nemesis.

@Tigersfan: Loki wouldn't have it any other way.

I'll leave it up to you, but, this actually fits VERY WELL with Loki's personality. He very often acted like he was trying to be as powerful as other gods, and causing all the grief he could in the process. The idea of a more powerful god than Loki would very very much bother Loki, and force him to cause trouble. (incidently, this is part of the reason he wasn't included initially, I couldn't think of a way to include him that didn't seem to ignore serious parts of his personality. :) )

I'm sure that we'll do some stuff with him too, if we can think of it.  But I also want a lot of things from the human angle.  I don't consider the Woes implemented thus far to be representative of the ones that will be in there in the end (in terms of total makeup).  The pot thus far doesn't even include all my general ideas, let alone all the general ideas from players, let alone all my god-specific ideas.

It might actually be interesting to have a lot of the god-specific ones be caused by Loki, at least when it's tied to the Norse.  That would fit really well and those are going to be some pretty dramatic ones, too.

Whelp :) I'll hold off for a bit then.  I'm still trying to figure out a name for one I thought up a day or two ago.

If sc does well, why not make additional woes based on the.civs. so loki would be involved in norse games, hades woes on the greeks. this would take simple work but.fairly time.consuming so i would think it a good example for expansion
Life is short. Have fun.

I'd do those as free DLC, but yeah that's just what I'd like to do!

Poor Hades, getting a bad rep. Should use Eris instead as a sort of Loki partner in crime.
