Yes, I came back here to tell you that; this is required for siege units.

Good job, I am starting to play this game with the "just one more turn" bad habit ;) !!

Are these balance changes going to mean the Norse will need more horses?

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

The frustrating part about the alpha is I always want to play the version that isn't out yet.

Not necessarily. I like the idea of one faction needing a resource more than another. Do you think the norse need to use more horses?

I just thought it was odd that the Norse didn't use them at all.  Granted the embassy will soon require a few, it just felt off to me.  Do you think it is ok for a faction to be able to ignore a resource?

I'm perfectly okay with factions not requiring some resource, personally. I've been hoping to see more games where not every resource is a tug-of-war that benefits both sides. It's not here in this game, but unique resources provide more granularity in terms of balance options (sack a town purely for resource denial without simultaneously benefitting from more production).

Actually, that is here in terms of the mythological creatures.  Fish/rice are per-faction, and needed for the mythological creatures.  So good luck using those fish, greek dudes! ;)

Well.. horses are the only resource that isn't equal opportunity in use :)  Greeks love them some horses, Norse not so much.  If it is a design decision, cool.  If it's an oversight then I'm just bringing attention to it.

The Norse should use horses as an edible resource. I have no clue if that's at all historically accurate (I'm sure it isn't), but it would amuse me.

We knew we were giving the greeks lots of horses and the norse not much -- in particular it has to do with cavalry versus pikemen, etc.  There are some funky things in there actually to mess with greek vs greek scenarios.  Aka, we did think of it in advance, and it was asymmetrical on purpose.

Right on.  With the design of the game being naturally imbalanced, it makes it hard to know these things for sure.

Now back to my regularly scheduled "breaking stuff" session in game ;)

I saw that :)

Going to see if I can reproduce the fatal error I got in the last version (with the same save).

Ah, I didn't see any fatal error mentioned aside from the one that was just the turn count not being set right in the lobby.  If you created a game with an invalid turn count and the save is in the setup phase, then that's just a bad save but not something you could have happen fresh.

Anyway, link for new version text: http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,13034.0.html
