Hahaha -- it's still good to have alpha testers, because we want to make sure things are clear and accessible. That's the biggest worry for me, aside from making sure that we have the balance set up well by the start of that.
Tangent: This is a really odd game to balance, by the way. We're not actually trying to make this balanced in a traditional strategy game sense. Instead, we're intentionally putting in certain holes and imbalances and things that are over or underpowered on each side. That asymmetry makes the player's job of balancing the conflict harder and more interesting. Rather than it being an exploit in a competitive game, or even a game like AI War. So our challenge is how to imbalance things in a way that is fun, rather than how to balance it precisely. It's a completely different proposition, and quite fun, but also really different.
