Does anyone else here feel like a kid on Christmas eve, looking at the tree and the presents underneath, and wanting to jump in, then your parents chime in and make you wait until tomorrow?

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

Hi,

Is Alpha starting today ? Tonight ? Or delayed until tomorrow ?
And then, does beta is still planned for next Monday ? I cannot wait to get in, even if only for beta.

Cheers!

Alpha will likely start tomorrow night (EST), though it depends on how things go for me today/tomorrow in terms of finishing my work.  Some other things have kept me from Skyward coding most of the day, unfortunately.

Beta will 100% definitely be next week, and may very well start on Monday.  However, we are talking to certain third party distributors, and if they're going to carry the game during beta then we'll be subject to finding a mutually-workable schedule with them.  In that event I highly doubt Monday would be enough of a turnaround time.

I won't forget to post updates here as things get closer, don't worry! :)

Yeah, I know that you will do as soon as possible, I will wait as long as required!

Keep on the good job... and bring us another good game!

Wait...a four-day alpha? Am I reading this right? How many testers are we looking at again?

Our longest alpha ever was about a week, I think.  Maybe two weeks?

Anyhow, we don't tend to do very long alphas.  In terms of number of testers, I'm not yet sure.  And not sure when exactly alpha will start; I've had some things to take care of this morning that have slowed me up (again).  If alpha winds up starting tomorrow night, then beta wouldn't start until sometime mid or late next week.  And that's looking likely anyhow, for other reasons.

The worst part about those delays with the alpha is that i keep being afraid that i was not picked for it, so i have to check this thread every time.

Haha, yeah, I've been doing that same thing.  I'm betting a bunch of others are doing it too.

On the plus side, these delays mean that the alpha will start AFTER I get home from my trip, so I can use my normal PC, instead of the may-burst-into-flames-at-any-moment laptop.    Thus, less  of the swearing and threatening it with a fork, and more of the gameplay and testing.   A plus indeed.

Ha! I'd be one of the guys in that bunch :)

On the not-so-plus side, my hard drive just gg'd, I barely made it out alive with my work stuff, I have an English paper next week, and my brother thinks that I curse any laptop I install software on. Fortunately, he loved Valley 2 so much that he decided to give Skyward a shot. Between all of that, I think I can squeeze in a few hours of play-and-test-time (assuming I'm lucky enough to get picked).

Same for me, but know I think we can expect alpha to start before the weekend (more time for playtesting)

Alpha will be starting this morning (est) for sure. I finished trade and diplomacy last night, although I'm not sure I'm pleased with how trade is balanced yet. That's a great reason for alpha though. ;)

Josh and I need to confer; and I need to get the autoupdater done, and then we're off to the races.nmaybe 2, e hours from now.
