Thanks, Unclean. A couple of good ones there, I think. Hopefully OTG will do one as I'd find it pretty entertaining.

Hello Peeps

Thought I'd come in (finally after lurking for months) to recommend Quill18 as well.

He's done an AI War Let's Play in the past and does enjoy a good Strategy game. If he enjoys Skyward, he's more than likely to give a pretty lengthy Let's play, maybe even 2. Given the length of a standard game, it's something he would be able to complete in a time-frame that suits him... I imagine people have heard of him. A rather well Spoken Canadian with quite an upbeat temperment and good attitude to gaming.

There's also another point for das24680

He's a pure strategy guru and enjoys a good LP. He is also a very well spoken and intelligent gamer. He does mostly focus on the less obscure games, so that's always a perfect opportunity to get Skyward noticed too. His subscription base is growing quite strongly as well. But I certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. The depth he is prepared to go to to explain a title is very much unmatched on YouTube.

I know it's been mentioned. But You can't go wrong with these guys.

Thanks for these.

We've been in contact with Quill18 since he first covered us, and I believe he has already requested a press copy. TB is TB. We always try, and he generally responds, but getting a video out of him these days is like getting called up on The Price is Right (not saying he makes us give our best estimation on a washer/dryer set.)

I looked up the others that were recommended, and found contact info for each of them. We'll touch base this week about press copies.

Any others we should have in mind, let us know.

Yeah, TB is busy as crap, and sometimes his videos just don't come out the way he feels is up to his standards, so he scraps them. Some games don't work well for his method of coverage. He's said that he'll cover Shattered Haven, but it's also possible that it didn't turn out well and was scrapped.

You can't really count on him covering something as a marketing thing. That's just not how he operates. :)

I would happily cover Shattered Haven, but my subscriber base is still just shy of 400, so I wouldn't exactly be that awesome :D

I have never heard of these guys but I'll put them in the queue to check them out, considering they're getting a few mentions here. Thanks for the suggestions.

A few that popped to my mind are the aforementioned Das24680, webgamingcentral, and TekkorGJC (Tekk's Tavern). Das has been mentioned enough I'd leave it at that.

TekkorGJC is another one that does a lot of video reviews and the like, though isn't as big.  Still, I enjoy his vids and seems like a fair reviewer that doesn't bash.

Webgamingcentral mostly picks up on popular titles (ie civ V, citybuilders, etc) and does series rather than reviews/ LP's, but might be worth a mention to them.

Anyways, just a few thoughts.

Also, don't forget Force ( http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGhs9S33RAeT5DEuKTO4Oew ). He covered Valley 2, in the past, so you may already have him on the list Erik, but he covers a decent number of Indie games and he's always fair with them, IMO.

Added. And yeah, his video showing up the day of launch was like a gift under the tree on Christmas morning.

Edit: Just realized this isn't the first simile I've used in this thread. I'll back off.

Bit of an obvious one this as he's fairly popular(20,000+ views a vid), but... PaulSoaresJr

http://www.youtube.com/user/paulsoaresjr

One positive is that he actually showed a bit of interest in doing SH, even posting about a couple of technical issues on this forum.  Edit: actually you almost certainly do sent this guy preview copies or he probably wouldn't have had a copy of SH, neverthless worth pointing out just in case you've missed him.

Now, a far less popular channel. MetalCanyon

http://www.youtube.com/user/MetalCanyon

Really specialises in X-com. But hey that's turn based, too. Also just started a new segment called Let's Look which is a typical WTF is type video. I think he might like the little guys running about theme of SC.

Only gets 300+views although some of his other videos are more popular. Might be worth including a few of these fledgling Let's Players, though, as there's no telling how they might grow.

Somebody else mentioned this guy in the thread that prompted this one, but I can't remember who. I'll look it up and then edit this post. CaptnDuck. Edit: it was Cyborg!

Quote
"How about a different reviewer that doesn't get 1000 requests per day? Someone like Capt. duck."

Solid, comical, and a good following.

http://www.youtube.com/user/captnduck

Seems to play Dwarf Fortress and has played Civ games. Gets about 1000+ per vid.

Maybe go to Sips of the yogscast. He does a lot of indie games 'evening with sips' episodes, and he's done stuff like Atom Zombie Smasher and Game Dev Tycoon. He's always really into his actual games and always has an amazing positive attitude about what he's doing in-video. He's got some stuff lined up and I don't know that he's got the time necessarily, but him doing a video would be pretty huge.

By the way, on the topic of advertising (but not a Let's Player, this still seemed the most appropriate thread), considering how inspired by boardgames Skyward Collapse is, it might be worth posting or trying to get an article posted on www.boardgamegeek.com

It would certainly give exposure to a completely different audience that might appreciate it. I'm sure there are board game bloggers that do board game-esque video games (don't ask me which, I've no clue) that might be worth looking into as well.
