No wins for multiplayer games? or just the tutorial?

My friend and I just spent 7 hours playing through the tutorial, and yet we earned no experience and have no wins or losses (despite winning). Is this due to having played the tutorial? Or is this a feature of multiplayer? Or is this a bug? Some more information on how leveling works would be great to have inside the game, because it's not really clear how it works for someone coming into the game. You see all the buildings that unlock at higher profile levels, and go "How do I level up and get these?!" and there is no answer I could find. Thanks.

Tutorial games aren't counted, yes. You can either play several games to unlock things or take a peek in the wiki and find the cheat to just unlock everything.
