Put suggestions for a tip of the day (a la AIW) here!

OK, this is a lame excuse to put at least one thread in this board.

I think this is a good idea, though. :)

I have one:  Dont drop that silver sigil thing that the Norse can use right next to a bandit heavy siege unit.   Giving such a thing 5 attacks per turn is not a happy idea.   I kept wondering just why I did that and how I didn't notice the stupid bandit.  I kept not getting an answer to those questions.

Setting up an area with nearby towns and embassies, surrounded by mountains can be extremely effective for getting enlightened towns.

Here's another: You are supposed to have (a lot) more than one town.

I added my second town on turn 110.

Just realised that you could save a game in the last round before wining and reload it multiple times to get your profile level at max "immediately". But I don't recommend it because I think this would also lead in a steeper learning-curve/harder gameplay  8)

You could also look at the wiki... under pre-release notes in 1.000. :P

Meeting high-level score gate requirements can be tough in the first round. However, the score gate is checked AFTER round 30, so you do get an opportunity to place god token and boost your score to the needed level right before the check. At higher difficulty levels, this can be pretty much required.

Make sure you have moon and sun stone on hand.

Turns out, using the midgard serpent about 5 times (with about 12 towns with nothing in them) after using Skadi to change a map full of swamps (due to a woe) unto mountains, then getting the woe crumble, and using the midgard serpent once again as the age of gods happens and there is no room for odin/apollo to spawn sort of breaks the game. This was the end result

Ok, I"ve got a couple more:

1.  If you want to "turn off" unit production in a town, generally the simplest way to do this is to simply Smite the butcher, or the carpenter (for siege units).   Pretty much every human unit will stop being produced in that town by just popping one of those buildings.   And it is then very easy to turn them back on.

2.  On Hard mode or higher, where units level up from kills, it's important to get Schools in as fast as possible in every city that you have unit production in!  This means that the gap between new units and experienced units is that much lower!   If you have Njord available, his Reginnaglar token can make it easy to then upgrade to the next level of school as they become available, in every city at once.  I think he can also upgrade them even when the next one is still locked.

3.  Diamond!  Argh!  Make sure you have enough!

Here's a few I've noticed from the forums and my own poking around in the tutorial:

While most mythological units and tokens require incense, diamond, and other specialised resources, a few only require very basic resources. Singasteinn, for example, only requires bacon (but lots of it).

If you need to swing the course of a battle, using direct intervention to upgrade a unit or two is often a less drastic move than dropping a mythical beast into the middle of the fight. Plus it doesn't cost any AP.

If one faction is falling behind the other, you can use the stronger faction's turns to help out the weaker one by placing useful terrain (especially Grassy Ruins), or - in more extreme cases - mythological tokens that either side can use.
