Since there was some curiosity about the story, here's the text from the traditional intro scroll that Arcen games tend to have (except Tidalis):
GRAYS roam the land, largely in the absence of human interference.
Animals spontaneously transform into twisted, violent beings.
The earth decays, collapsing into a network of abysses.
The wilderness thickens.
It has been
nine years since That Day when it all started.
Pockets of humanity still exist, but are ignorant of one another.
Within these isolated havens people try to live as best they can --
For even in a world so broken and dark, daily life must go on.
This uneasy equilibrium seems to be the new world order.
But belief in constancy of circumstances is a human fallacy.
Change is coming, and
havens will shatter.
That's general enough to not be particularly limited to one story and set of characters, since the game supports multiple adventures and that's something that we'd likely pursue either as expansions or later content if this does well, and which players could also create completely on their own if they like.
The game features a cutscene scripting editor as part of the level editor, so story is something that is going to be a lot more gameplay-integrated in this game compared to any of our other games. In terms of the actual specific story of the main adventure... well, you'll have to wait until September (probably mid-September) to find that out!
