Title: Just droppin' by to deliver my compliments
Post by: Orpheusftw on April 21, 2013, 09:06:52 pm
'Nothing important, but I know it's probably nice to hear some positive now and then. People like to voice complaints above all else in the gaming world.

I've been meaning to say something for a while now, but have wanted to get a good basis for opinion, as I've just been casually poking away at it in my spare time. This game is INCREDIBLY satisfying, and I've really been enjoying it. The level design is so varied and interesting that each one is a refreshing new adventure that rarely feels like a chore.
I haven't finished it just yet, but so far my favourite level has been Tornado Alley. Straight forward and less puzzling than other levels, but what a tedious and unpredictable pain in the ass! (in a "fun way", heheh)

Great game, thanks. Best of luck with future releases. Skyward collapse will be a day one purchase for me, based solely on the fun I've had with your previous titles.

Thank you very much!  We've really had a tough time getting people to get into it, so it's always really refreshing when people give it a real try and then come away so positive. :)  Tornado Alley is one of my favorites, too -- tornadoes were my most common and scariest nightmare growing up as a kid, and so I designed that level out of that feeling.

Again, very much thanks. :)

Hey Chris,

Since there's already a thread for it, I thought I'd drop my props in for the game too.

I saw Shattered Haven on Steam and thought it looked quite neat and picked it up, thinking 'ooh co-op zombie puzzle game I can play with the wife' and then fired it up and then did a double take going 'Whoa this is made by Arcen?  Sweet!'

So we just finished our first playthrough of it today after several sessions of a couple hours each and were really happy with it, although my wife punched me once when I made fun of her too much for falling into the pits / running into the zombies. ;)

I plan on playing through a few more times and trying the other routes / getting the other papers and maybe gifting a couple copies to some friends I think would enjoy it!

Thank you very much also! :)

I in particular always love to hear about couples playing our games, as that's something my wife and I do also.

Shattered Haven is a game my wife and I have been enjoying together as well! It's a good activity to bring us together.
Co-op puzzle games like this are way too rare.

By the way, I don't know how many people remember the game creation platforms ZZT/MegaZeux, but Shattered Haven really feels like a modernized ZZT game. In a very good way.

Anyhow, I can't compliment this game enough. Thanks!

Thank you very much!  It's really a breath of fresh air to hear from people who actively enjoy it, rather than press who kind of wrote it off at first glance and talk about how it was disappointing.  It really means a lot, I have to say. :)

I just finished my first playthrough and wanted to add to the list of positive feedback :) I enjoyed playing through the game and I thought the atmosphere and gameplay was great! The puzzle levels are unique and engaging - I liked the Mansion and the swamp level where I first found the map most, I think. The ending left me feeling unsatisfied, so I'm happy that the New Game + will offer more content (although I read that on these forums -- I would be playing already if the sign at the end told me explicitly there was new stuff! :). Looking forward to my next playthrough and happy to have supported another fun Arcen title :)
