To fix #1, use youtube.com/my_subscriptions/. THey made it more obtuse to find but its still there and besides the waste of space on the sides if you aren't using their arbitrarily determined screensize for how many videos can fit in a row. Its like a (slightly damaged) ray of sensibility in the herpaderp called youtube page design.

Maybe the designers figured "eh, it's youtube, everything on youtube draws hatred, so it doesn't matter what we do".  Or maybe the people hiring the designers figured this ;)
