I don't recall if anyone posted the Zero Punctuation review here, so I'll do it because I always find those hilarious.  If you've never seen his reviews before, there is NSFW language and don't try and multitask while listening to it.

I never could get into a game reviewer that reviews games that put 80% of their time into multiplayer then not bother even trying the multiplayer.

It would like reviewing LoL or DotA2 with bots only.

Does XCOM have 80% of its time devoted to multiplayer?

Eh, no? I haven't even touched MP yet, and I'm 37 hours in.

He's awesomely funny, but I wouldn't really call it a review. It's more entertainment, tbh.

Chem must've been talking about the ME 3 review.

He did touch at multiplayer for a few games (one of those nintendo fighting games of some description is the last one i remember).
Ultimately, he plays games because he can find them fun to do alone. If he had friends, he would be doing something else.. (mostly joking)

I wasn't talking this game in particular, but my mildly curious interest of him fell off a cliff after he review BF3.

Now, BF3 has a lot of flaws. I find the game a lot of fun, but I was expecting up front on how he'd rip the game, because that's his style. He went on and on about the singleplayer. Say what you want about the Battlefield games, but they have always have crummy single player compared to their multiplayer. I held my breath a bit to see what he'd say about the multiplayer...

and he had nothing at all to say.

After that, I have had simply no interest. Why bother make a review about a game that almost everyone agrees puts most of its effort into <game mode> then completely ignore it? There was plenty to rip up on, but to not bother for me is worst then not reviewing it at all.

Ever since then, I couldn't bother to waste my time.
Life is short. Have fun.

Well, he's kind of made it a point to never bother with multiplayer like...ever. His idea is that if a game has single player, it has to be able to stand alone on that single player. Which, tbh, BF3 absolutely does not. It's absolutely atrociously bad. It's a multiplayer game (and a good one at that after what I've heard) so why it even has single player is a boggle to the mind.

That is fine, except, why do BF3 to begin with? It's of the same magnitude of playing LoL or DotA2 with bots only. If a game is focused on multiplayer, and you won't get off your bum to play random multiplayer games, then just don't review it to begin with. When he gave the BF3 review mentally I went "F - Incomplete, could not grade." He's done even tangential reviews on multiplayer before. Hell, he could just say "Origin is a jerk, could not try multiplayer" and I'd let that pass. But to say "I don't try a genre that is mostly multiplayer because I don't feel like it" is just a cop out.

I suppose I should give him credit, it showed just how useless individual reviews are to me.

First off, he's not reviewing. He's entertainment. He hates games, that's what he does. Secondly, he carries a loathing for the MMS genre. I absolutely respect that you don't like him, but don't try to put him on par with IGN or "proper" reviewers, because he's not. TotalBiscuit doesn't review games either, but he's A LOT more of a reviewer than Yahtzee. Yahtzee's an entertainer. Wether you like his humor or not is up to taste.

He has"ironically" loved plenty of games (supposedly). It doesn't matter what you think of his attitude toward games, he himself thinks himself enough a reviewer to not do tongue in cheek jokes. The fact he gives some games a thumbs up and many more a thumbs down shows (while going against the grain of most objective analysis) shows he has at the very least a facade of being a game reviewer.

If you want to bash a game, bash it for what it is after playing it, not what you think it is. Otherwise you are as bad as people who review games based upon how others review games.

I'm pretty sure thats what he does - He takes a game. He plays it. Then he makes fun of it in a cartoon.
If he actually enjoyed the game, its usually pretty evident..

So, if I played the original Bioshock for its multiplayer (because my philosophy is that any good game has great multiplayer) and I say its a steaming pile of doo, then its ok solely based on its multiplayer?

I'm asking this honestly. Even the reviewer in question had the decency to review a primarily a single player game for its primary mode. I'm taking the opposite approach. If I take a primarily single player game for its limited multiplayer approach, and base my review soley on what I feel my philospophy is, does that make me entertaining? Or does that just make me biased and I have to dress my opinion with animation?

Try to listen to the game reviewer without animation sometime. He's nothing but an asshat.
